yes the rules are rules . but as the R&A know you can change them.

serious question. Does Duval even play competitive golf.

like no issue with guys active. but some (not sure if David) turn up and play when they shouldn't.

    Crenshaw at Masters is another

Doesn’t play any competitive golf and mostly commentates but these guys all earned their right to play. Most of them know when it’s time to stop turning up.

If Koepka hits the front you'll see a lot of players drop off. He is starting to have that intimidation factor about him now.

Spieth on his A game would challenge and it'd be a good ding dong, both dogged and unrelenting. Still fancy Koepka

Only DJ on his A game could challenge Koepka on his A game

There is plenty in the field who on their A game would challenge Koepka

I reckon Rahm in full flow would take Brooks down.

Rahm to win. What happened to Rory?

Really? A man who wins majors for fun against a moody Spanish lad. Not doubting rahm on his day is class but against someone who is arguably the best player in the world and has proven his class in majors.

    No thanks

Only maybe rose for consistency under pressure if it was tight would I maybe argue brooks may and it’s a big May struggle but the chap has an unbelievable swing, putts well, hits the ball a mile, decent shirt game and good temperament

Nah not for me if he brings his A game.

    Rory, yeah
    DJ , yeah

That’s it from what I can see and what he can produce on his A game

McIroy on his A game would also.

It'd be a great sight if they all clicked in one major

How often does it happen though? Last epic battle I saw was Stenson v Mickelson in a major. The game is crying out for far more matchplay with the amount of talent on show imo.

Not often tbf, the masters was Epic this year but there was actually too many people in contention it was pretty rapid fire for a lot of the coverage

After all the planning and preparation from Rory about not playing here, not playing there. The months of thought and in depth planning and it all came undone from the very first shot of the tournament.

I truly believe he'd win more majors if he just went out and played golf, off the cuff, so to speak.

There are 156 spots on offer in this tournament. There are maybe a handful of players totally out of place there. Tiger Woods is tied 144th and Rory McIlroy is tied 150th, granted both had shockers but I don't think anyone would suggest that they don't deserve their spot in the tournament. It's a fairly stacked field but at some point you run out of excuses if you're not in the field, there are plenty of opportunities to qualify.

Duval may well be stinking the place up but he has earned that right, and players older than him that have qualified through the same method as him, and went into the competition without much form have done quite well in the past. He was +13 for 2 holes today, a fairly freak occurrence. It's probably at the point where it could be worth a word in the ear to suggest that he stick to the seniors open only when he hits 50 though.

For all the negativity around Rory, he only dropped shots on 4 holes, granted that was expensive for him, but it's not like he played all that badly in general.

That Tiger stat today was incredible. From 1997 - 2008 Tiger was 126 under par for all the majors. The golfer next to him was over par. Amazing.

I just couldn't see brooks having a quadruple and a triple bogey and carelessly missing a 10 inch put at a major like the open.

Soft day shaping up tomorrow, not much wind (at Portrush anyway) and off and on drizzle, could see some lower scores than any other day as Saturday looks fairly breezy and Sunday could get into wind and rain impacts getting worse as day goes on. Those near the cut might be able to win this by moving up the board on Saturday, still playing early enough on Sunday and if they could then shoot a low score, maybe all the leaders would have to fight the worse weather later in the day.

It’s a waste of time bringing these jokers back. 5 year exemption then piss off and play with the old lads if you qualify age wise

And risk missing out on Tom Watson losing to Cink in a play-off?
    Thanks but no thanks.

I think tigers days may be coming to an end. I give him 3 years max.

The injuries he’s had must be taking a toll, but I do think he has at least one or maybe two more majors in him. He’ll never play the seniors tour or come back to hack a ball around majors after that

Would you give any bias weather wise to the draw tomorrow?

Was Koepka's number really leaked or was that a joke I didn't get earlier ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 471 ✭✭PhuckHugh22

Bit of a joke that there is no strokes gained stats. Surely that is not standard stuff at this stage.

Or am I missing it somewhere?

Already have an ominous feeling that Koepka will take big advantage of the good conditions this morning. Just machine like with a perfect attitude for the majors.

Keopka is 2-1-2 for the three Majors this year, and has won 4 of the last 9, Rahm, though one of my favourite players and a proven winner on links, is not in the same stratosphere as Keopke in terms of Majors performance, how on earth did you come to that conclusion?
