Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And the race is finally in the mountains proper... yay! :)
Although with the ITT tomorrow, I don't expect the top of the general classification to change much today.

Stage 9 of the 2013 TdF finished in Bagneres-De-Bigorre, and the winner... Dan Martin ;)

I just had a bizarre wacky races thought of a team mixing up their dates and time trialing this stage...

Nico in the break which is 42 large.

And there's 3 other Sunweb riders with him including Matthews.

The highest ranked of the breakaway on GV is Van Avermaet at 14'25''.
Nico is next back on 17 minutes.
Sagan is in the breakaway too.

    2'45' gap to peloton.

what is the total ascent for that roughly? and what kind of average km per hour?

Total ascent for the stage today is 3,088 metres if that's what you're asking

This has damp squib written all over it, barring a fall on descent which i wouldn't wish on anyone.

    14:37 Rohan Dennis pulls out
Rohan Dennis (Bahrain-Merida) who was one of the first rider on the attack this morning has abandoned the Tour de France. The world champion for individual time trial was a hot favourite for tomorrow's stage.

The team's statement is weird. Rumours he was literally missing, but people reporting he's on the team bus.

Eurosport said he was complaining of gastro problems since this morning.

    Did someone poison him?

You really could infer anything from the teams twitter message, very strange.

Yeah, was doing most of the work too but got smart. 53 secs behind leaders with 30k to go. There are quicker lads you'd have to think so he'd have to get lucky with one great attack and the rest start looking at one another. Unlikely, but he's given himself chance anyway. GC lads yawning their way up.

I thought the other two would have the beating of Yates there. Well done to him.

The ITT is anyone's guess now after Ronàn Dennis pulling out today. Tony M might be hoping to roll back the years with a win there.

Wonder what happened with Denis? Tweeting saying there was a fight with the DS and he jumped off the bike

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,256 ✭✭✭MPFGLB

Nicolas Roche tried again but no cigar

Of course Nico is not as fast as some of these younger guys ..probably needs a MTF in the final week when some of faster guys are tired and stamina is key

However Nico has been riding every day for Sunweb and Matthews, even 30K in the wind yesterday so not easy to do both and then beat Yates who has been 'resting' down the back

But I expect we will definitely see more of him ...hopefully Sunday

Remember the fractious relationship Dennis had a Garmin before he went to BMC

Wonder if he is not happy at Bahrain

They used to call him the honey bear as he is volatile

Štangelj (TBM) gives first updates on Dennis situation: "We saw Dennis at the side of the road. He did not want to talk. We thought he'd continue anyway, to hear he stopped was a shock to us as well. It certainly has nothing to do with his physical condition."

He was handing out bottles and had to step back to avoid GvA and fell back and hit his head on the road.

Doesn't really shed a lot of light though.
