I'd be all for subs anyway think it would make the game more tactically intresting.

Don't think it was specified that there would not be subs either. I assumed there would be as it's an uneven number of picks otherwise so people are disadvantaged somewhat. Subs isn't even a term I'd use since they can't come on and it's 11 v 11 in the match.

Not really it's the same number for everyone. We all get 11 picks

Think he means that the players on top of the list get more turns at a first pick then the players at the bottom.

    Alderweireld is a clever one.

I wanted both those Spurs centre backs but Sagna was just too good at that stage to pass up. Was really hoping one of them would be there for my next pick. Back to the drawing board.

Yeah Sagna definitely a good pick at that stage. He was under consideration when I went with Lauren.

Centre backs in short demand now. And I still don't have one. May need a creative solution.

It is a form of torture, think I'd prefer to be middle of picks!

Saying that my first choice pick for this round has lasted 16 pick already so I am starting to get me hopes up!! But as they say it's the hope that kills you

Nah, being in the middle is awful. You don’t get to pick one of the top 3 or 4 players in the first round who’d make more of a difference than anyone, and you don’t get to pick twice fairly quickly either so you always run the risk of losing your targets.

I can finally empathise with Malcolm. The middle is quite shît. :pac:

I think after the first 2 picks of round 1 then everyone else is of similar ability. Funny enough when you combine Round 1 and Round 2 picks I think slick who was last pick in round 1 done some of the best business.

It all balances out in the scheme of things though. Player ranked 1 and 32 still adds to the same as players ranked 16 and 17

It all balances out, says the proud owner of Cristiano Ronaldo. :pac:

You could pick the likes of Djimi Traore and Bebe for the rest of your team and you’d still be in with a chance, same goes for Henry. Those two are untouchable. :(

Anyway, here’s the table after round 7:

Very surprised to see Vertonghen go so late in the draft, and even more surprised to see him go after Alderweireld, but that’s just my opinion.

Thought Cech would have gone before Seaman myself, he was absolutely world class for Chelsea for years, met him the other night after the match, an absolute Gent who had loads of time for the Bohs Fans as well as the Chelsea fans who hung around

Seaman was world class for years too and he and my center back played together in a formidable defence.

If I was to look at players individually then maybe they would but I'm going on players that have achieved things together and work together the best I can.

Oh no, it's not a mark on your pick itself, I was just surprised that Cech took so long, I suppose people are strengthening elsewhere before looking at GK

Some thoughts on the teams so far...
Redzerdrog – Ronaldo; Toure; Kompany; Robertson; Mane; Dixon; Firmino.

Impressed by the pace out wide, and with a powerful core. Looking to me like the team to beat as it stands so far.
Liam O – Henry; Pires; Alonso; Zola; Sterling; Azpilicueta; Toure.

Lot of ballers in this side which I like, and a strong defence taking shape too.
Lucas – Keane; Torres; Campbell; Silva; Ginola; Pogba; Bruce.

Nice mix of flair and steel. Like the Pogba pick personally; at his best he's a handful for any side.
Me – Lampard; Stam; Van Nistelrooy; Hamann; Robben; Duff; Fletcher.

Happy enough so far, though gutted my top targets were gobbled up the last 24 hours.
Ferris – Gerrard; Vidic; Kante; Wright; Ljungberg; Ivanovic; Son.

I like the spine of this side, and there's plenty of serious goal threat on the flanks.
Duffman – Vieira; Kane; Schmeichel; King; Le Tissier; McManaman; Gallas.

Another team with a strong centre, and great dribbling talents out wide.
KBurke – Shearer; Salah; Makelele; Hyppia; Irwin; Coutinho; McAllister.

Really like this mix of 90s and current stars. Looks a big threat up top.
Martyos – Scholes; Van Dijk; Owen; McGrath; Overmars; Baines; Fabinho.

Van Dijk and McGrath combo is a dream team. Left flank of this team looks one of the best in the game.
Trigger – Ferdinand; Bergkamp; Fernandinho; Cole; Zabaleta; Eriksen; Wise.

Like this mix of creativity and defensive strength. Wise I think was a clever pick (wise even) as he was able to hold his own in the tough 90s midfield era.
Dr ken – Bale; Fabregas; G. Silva; Evra; De Gea; Mahrez; Cahill.

Strong midfield and defence and exciting wing threat. Curious to discover who you choose as your striker.
Incognito – Terry; A. Cole; Adams; Ince; Fowler; Ballack; Ozil.

I like the fact that you built from the defence up to the attack, and it hasn't hurt your ability to find quality at the other end of the field.
Correction – Drogba; Giggs; Modric; Essien; Anelka; Sanchez; Sagna.

Getting a nice Chelsea/Arsenal vibe from this side which I like. I think the Sanchez pick is a good one as in his prime Arsenal period he was a big danger.
Dozyart – Cantona; Van Persie; De Bruyne; Jay Jay Okocha; Van Der Sar; Pallister; Alderweireld; Riise.

Some great entertainers in this team who would be fun to watch. Dangerous set-piece threat as well I notice.
Morzadec – Suarez; D. Silva; Desailly; Carrick; Tevez; Lauren; Vertonghen; Cech.

Loving the balance of this team. Can see this being one of the strongest sides.
Jayo – Rooney; Beckham; Petit; G. Neville; Keown; Berbatov; Speed; Seaman.

Lot of combative characters in this side which I like. Will be tough nut to crack for any team.
Slick – Aguero; Hazard; Carvalho; Mascherano; Dembele; Carragher; Cazorla; Petrescu.

I dig this blend of attacking threat up top and tenacity in midfield. I think the Dembele pick was an underrated one. While not the most glamorous choice, a bit like my thought process behind picking Fletcher he allows the others in the team to do damage. Petrescu a quality blast from the past too.

Overall been very impressed with the choices in this draft. I did one of these on the soccer forum well over a decade ago and don't remember it being of this standard. I don't see any teams with a porous looking shape. Everyone has clearly thought carefully about who they want and why.

Next few rounds will be very significant of course, but the way it's looking I think we're in for some cracking match-ups.

Surprised to see Fabinho. Surely that's the worst pick so far in an all time PL squad. Has he even played 30 PL games?
