You could pm a couple of picks to someone who isn't in the draft that could put up your pick for you?

Yeh will work something out depending on how many picks away I am. But priority can change depending on the players picked before me.

I know exactly who I want now but if one of those gets picked by someone then plans change

I'll be online tomorrow and tonight if you want to do that. Happy to send you details of other picks via text message too

First time in a draft there is potential for a player to be sent off for assaulting their own player

His peak was a few years back man :p

He had a bit too much paella this Summer. Normal service will be resumed by game time :D

Duff was my next pick. But I'd already resigned myself to not getting him this round. I knew the last round was the time if I was desperate for him.

It's all getting very interesting now.

Was interested to see when Pogba would go, I had him earmarked as a possible pick. Inconsistent but undoubtedly talented. I'm not sure there's many (any?) truly world class centre mids left

I wondered and doubted if anybody would go with Pogba. I think it is a really risky choice, especially when there are still some really good midfielders available, guys who have actually performed well in the PL.

As a United fan, I think I would look at a team with Pogba there and see that as a mark against.

I spent a fair amount of time debating going for Duff with my Sanchez pick. Think Duff would've been a great pick for me even then but I just couldn't turn down that match winning ability Alexis had

Agree I don't understand some of the praise in the thread for players that have been good in average teams and lack of acknowledgement for players that helped achieve great things We shall see how it pans out.

You're not a great judge of players in fairness.

You said Pat Jennings was better than Manuel Neuer in one of these before.

Yeah I imagined this might be the case and that definitely was giving me pause for thought, but I might well have taken him if available at a later round.

The poster has maybe framed it well saying that he has Keane beside him for discipline, and you could make the argument that peak Pogba is proven in teams with other world class players beside him. But I'm sure opponents might pick on him as a potential weakness

    What an amazingly classless post.

For the record, I believe this is the thread from 6 years ago that this guy is referring to, if anybody is interested in the context.

I think in the right team and system then Pogba is definitely worth the risk but it's a gamble.

Not sure having him is a team with Keane is the right thing though as Keane was truly a proper CM (in a midfield 2) whereas is you want the best of out Pogba you need to play 3 with a dedicated DM

Sure as hell gona be interesting as teams take shape though

The problem is that Pogba has never done it in the PL for a prolonged period of time, if people are going to judge him on this it should be just on his PL performances and not on what he did for Juve, having Keane beside him would definitely free him up but he had 2or 3 WC midfielders beside him at Juve, not one so depends on the setup. But saying that he has also failed to perform in an attacking sense with 2 workhorses beside him and no focus on defense.

He is undoubtedly talented and It really is a going to be a tough one but will depend entirely on who he comes up against I suppose. If the OP can give a good assessment on why he thinks Pogba will work in his system against the opposition it could sway the votes

I think you can arguably factor in his performances for France at the world cup in 2018. He was at United at the time. Obviously first and foremost is the PL form but if players are achieving amazing things at international level while they were in their PL peak then it could be factored in a bit.

But yeah good points, and the WC was only a handful of games

Plus he only had 2/3 good performances for France in the WC, which were toward the end so people seem to forget the stinkers before that

Thought he did well right throughout personally. In a role he did well in his first season at United. Shame really he decided he was better than defending, could have been special.

Bruce was who I was initially going to pick with the previous pick but decided Toure suited my style better. Would have liked to pair them up but very optimistic thinking :D

Fletcher is the first player picked that I hadn't considered.

Be interesting to see how many there are by the end

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,708 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Fletcher fits nicely in MNG's midfield.

A couple of better midfielders out there (strictly speaking), but few would've given him the balance necessary.

Cheers, he was a hard one to judge what round he would go in. Nearly completely forgot about him too when I was making my initial list. I had someone else in mind but decided Son would be a better pick. Will be interesting to see what ones slip through!

Was thinking about him myself, had him earmarked for this round. Great pick at this stage I think..

Gallas was a brilliant defender, thats a real bargain at this stage of a draft, I'd put his value a round or two higher. He was making Terry look good long before Carvalho got that job.
