Brozovic seals it. What a game.

Surely a foul on Dragowski by Keita Balde?

Wow this is intense stuff. Can't imagine watching as an Empoli supporter.

Full-Time. What a game that was. Would have been the stuff of legend if Empoli had managed a late goal.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 23,251 Mod ✭✭✭✭godtabh

    That should be it

Feel sorry for Empoli. They gave so much this last month.

Delighted for Atalanta making the Champions League.

Was a really fun season. Only thing missing was a competitive title race, which I suspect will be the case in most top leagues in the coming years.

They had so many chances to score there tonight so that'll haunt them. Even the dragback late on was a great chance. I imagine the game in Florence was just everyone looking at the game in the San Siro hoping Empoli don't score.
I worry about Genoa, Fiorentina & Udinese going forward. 3 badly run clubs with owners who lost interest.

There won't be one in Italy again for quite some time.

Good to see a team like Atalanta achieve success with a modest budget creeping the rewards by investing in youth

AC Milan have been excluded from next seasons Europa League by CAS for breaking FFP rules.

Milan asked for this ruling after failing to qualify for the CL to get it over with. Clever move given how little money comes with an EL run.

What do people make of Lukaku maybe going to Inter? Presumably Icardi is on his way out after his behaviour last year but his are big boots to fill considering his goal haul each year. Maybe Lukaku + Lautaro Martinez will work but it's a big gamble I think, not convinced he'll fit in and it's a hell of a lot of money.

    Plus he is useless.

He looked slow and overweight this last season, would need to get in some sort of shape if he's to make any impact.

Where will Icardi go? Reports of Juve and Napoli

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,643 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

I think Lukaku at Inter will be a big success. He's shown at international level that when he has the support he gets goals.

Imo United would be dumb as hell to sell him - which is why I'm convinced he'll be sold.

In other news, really like Juve's signing of Demiral from Sassuolo. Mentioned a few months ago that he had impressed me:
Merih Demiral looks a good young defender for Sassuolo. Good with his feet and he made a stunning goalline clearance in their draw with Udinese. I looked him up and they've an obligation to buy him from Turkish club Alanyaspor at the end of the season. Has 3 caps for Turkey already at 21. Will be keeping an eye on him in future.

Looked very good in Turkey's win over France a few weeks ago too.

I think Napoli would suit him, too volatile for Juve and fairly despised by their fans. Maybe Dortmund or Atletico Madrid would fancy him too?

Can't see Dortmund or Atleti spending much more money to be honest. It's a tough one. Great striker but you know he's bringing bags of drama with him

Might as well keep using this thread but that was never a pen for Fiorentina but I just knew it would be given when the ref went to look at it & slowed it down.

You'd go far to see 2 VAR decisions as bad as the 2 pens that were given. Embarrassing to watch it.

    A blatant dive.

I'm a big fan of VAR but that was awful decisioning making. The refs are just not using the video replays correctly. It's not just happening in Italy but across Europe at the moment
