HATE CRIME IN THURLES

    No it’s not.

For the hard of thinking, here is all that I said.

This could be a hate crime but probably isn’t.

(Well it definitely isn’t in Ireland where there’s no such legislation but you get the idea).

The question is whether this crime was motivated by sectarian hatred, or just drunken high jinks etc.

    Almost certainly the latter.

In either case it's still a pathetic act of destruction of public property.

We bang on about the vandalism, rightly, of the Luke Kelly statue yet the neck-beard edge-lords(and some ladies) here that are still sticking it to the CC post secondary school cheer this ****e on like it's some kind of act of heroism. Go figure.

I'm not religious in the slightest, this statue means jot all to me but there's many for whom this statue does mean or represent something positive to them.

But hey every Catholic and institution is vermin so...

Houses going here for from 400-650k. Everybody working - not "working" class.

Re.religion I agree..it's very rare to not have a religious funeral -despite what the papers wpuld have you believe.very few people take that risk.

Fifteen percent in 2016 were non religious. A decent number given the captive audience they had back in the day.

Are people not allowed to be Catholic at all these days? Just more of the "change everything" attitude of people who want to wipe their own country out.

You can be a tuxedo wearing catholic fire breathing dragon for all i care, how is anyone trying to "wipe their own country out"?

That's just a general attitude the new breed of 'Irish' people have. Anything that used to be done MUST be changed simply because it used to be done.
That's not for this thread though, just that the attitude to Catholicism is just another element of it.

Aren't you a protestant Briton anyway? I can't see why you're interested in hate crimes in Tipperary. Are you looking for ideas or something?

The new breed of 'Irish' are just as Irish as the old breed.

    Change happens in every generation.

These are a disgrace to the country and they'll end up selling us out and back to Britain before all is said and done.

They crave kudos for being progressive and modern. They'll end this country in an effort to get them.

    What, English people !?

You do realise some four million English are Catholic right?

Stop trying to derail the thread just because you don't like the English.

I'm talking about modern Irish generations. Did you choose not to read that?

I was raised a catholic, nice try though

Amazing how so many who are against halal products can't explain why or how it affects their everyday life.

    ?

The halal products are causing statues to be beheaded?

    Huge if true.

    Evidence for this claim please?

More than likely stupid drunken petty vandalism, yet here we are with people jumping on the "OMG de Muslims" bandwagon.

I used to think you were a decent poster and quite intellectual.

If you don't respect your own religion that is not a hate crime its a disconnect in your own community.

Yes and some other nonsense about selling us back to the British.

The modern Irish generation are to be applauded.

You then made a point about referencing an English poster here and also made an assumptive glib point about his/her being Protestant, as if that matters.

You don't like the Brits we get it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,584 ✭✭✭✭ILoveYourVibes

I am just laughing at how every other religion is being blamed except the catholics who did it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,610 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

Muslims aren't fair game like Catholics though.

You're joking. They get dogs abuse.

Is there a mod sneak deleting posts if you mention a muslim? Keep your thread if that's the case. That's horrendous and proves the point I made to a tee (that you deleted but the quote remains).

I'd imagine its more to do with the poster than the post.

    No they're removing all trace.

I know someone who changed his name from an islamic name to a western name because of such abuse.

His family are not religious but its common to still give such names.

Also people who say inshallah etc ...they are not extremists but assumed to be so...its just a nice thing to say a pleasantry in arabic.

    There are crazy assumptions.

And yes obviously its a disrespectful thing to do to a statue.

But it wasn't a religious bigotry that drove it.

And no catholics should not be fair game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,296 ✭✭✭✭Timberrrrrrrr

If you have evidence a Muslim was complicit in this crime then post your evidence.

Otherwise i could claim it was aliens from mars, it would have as much standing as yours or anyone elses ridiculous claims.

But you are right. Drunken idiots probably.
