Summer hols again, 2 months of trying to figure out what the hell to do with the kids again. Any tips and ideas for good days out that don't cost a fortune or anything would be even better?

Just don’t take them to Ikea. Please.

Let them roam free and play with the traffic.

    Coal Mine?

Do you know where I could find one? If their faces get all black do they run the risk of being branded as racist?

That constitutes child abuse. My folks used to make me do that and I still cant forgive them fully. The bog is hell

Doubtful but they run the risk of being profiled.

Theirs things called summer camps 🙄 that cost anything up to €100 for the week, average maybe €75 X 8 weeks = 600, money well spent IMO.

Yep, they've done them all, still only takes up about 2 weeks though and only for a couple of hours per day

    It's a f*cking pain in the hole.
I've had to make my own calendars, pull in every favour, use leave, parental leave and we still don't have the second month sorted yet :pac:

I was going to say, cutting turf. That's what we did. Great times!

OPW used to have a free visit to different sites first Wednesday of each month but don’t know if it’s running this year.

Myself and my wife both work, luckily enough we are on shifts so it works out a bit better but my jaysus the summers are long when we have a generation of kids who don't know how to entertain themselves anymore and a generation of parents too afraid to allow their kids to roam freely as we used to

All I got from the back was a sore back and midget bites. Horrible horrible place. Turf mouldy sandwiches and luke warm tea. Hours of hardship and endless lines of turf. Child abuse

    What age are they?

Nothing like coming up with a project that you can all work on, something that would be of interest to them and something that would also be fun. Building things is great fun, a garden shed, tree house, renovating their bedrooms, creating a room for them in the attic/basement, etc.

It really seems like TV is the perfect answer to all those problems.

Now this is the kind of thing in talking about. They're 10 (boy) and 8 (girl)

Lots and lots of trips to the library to keep their summer full of reading.
Perhaps they could take up a new musical instrument - keyboard, guitar can be self-taught (depending on age).
    Drawing, colouring, art.

Let them get bored themselves too so that they can hopefully discover new things to do.

Hahahahahahah! They are yer problem now, just started my own holidays, two months of going to toilet when I actually need to, not being pulled by 34 little people in every direction, no trying to stay on top of neverending paper work. See ye in September folks!

Get 2 treadmills and hook them up to your mains electricity. 1 banana per hour should do them as they pay you back for your years of hard work.

You would wander why some people have kids . They seem to want everybody bar themselves to mind them.
