I ask because I seen when I was waiting in the A and E yesterday that a packet there was 1 euro and 10 cent from the vendor machine. I don't eat and can't eat them that's why I am asking as I am curious.

About a euro. Depends on where you buy though.

Euro sounds about right. The extra 10c goes to the HSE and its what makes it a first class health system

Really milking your visit to A&E, 2 threads about it now! Not getting the attention at home that you feel you deserve?

But this thread is about crisps not my A and E visit. its just I seen the price there and was curious.
Got plenty but I do not do things for attention and certainly did not say oh here's a big dog I will let him bit me on the hand so I will end up spending 6 hours in A and E. No thanks. As said already that was not fun. I had lots of plans for my Saturday but not that.
So lets make this thread about crisps.

A euro for a pack of crisps? When did that happen?

I remember them being 28p, have the bags gotten bigger?

You can't eat crisps, I'd rather be dead

It creeps up on you. The days of the 10c meanies and burger bites are over. I lash out now on a mega pack of kettles, for the gum bleeds alone, mmmmmm.

I love opening a big pack and feeling slightly guilty, so I pour half into a bowl, just to convince myself that I am not going to eat the whole pack....

Lying to and codding yourself should not be underestimated as a perfectly acceptable pastime.

Used to be 7p when I was a kid. Snax were 5p. I wonder if that price differential between the two still holds today- anyone know the price of Snax vs Tayto?

Haven't eaten Snax in years, but they were always cheaper than Tayto or King. Sam Spudz were a bit more expensive.

I remember them going from 5p to 6p* and having to go back to my Dad and argue with him for a rise in pocket money. After him getting me to debate my point he gave me a pocket money rise from 10p to 12p.

    Them were the days.

*1977-78 I think - prices used to be printed on the bags.

You can buy a 1.5kg bag of oven chips in Tesco for 69c I **** you not.

Snax and Skips are €1 in my local shop, Tayto/King are €1.20.

Dairy Milk chocolate is fairly commonly €1.30 or thereabouts for the small 6 square bar.

True, although I wouldn't recommend it because they're shite.

Why do shops like Spars and Centras in general these days have peculiar price points like €1.10, €1.15 etc. instead of charging nice round figures for small items likes packets of crisps, sweets like fruit pastilles and chewing gum like a euro.

It's all in the margins baby, like everything.

At least 89c too much. Their cheese and onion crisps are possibly the worst I've ever tasted.

Tesco, Dunnes, Super Valu etc.. 70c or there abouts.

85c for a packet of Tayto in my local Dunnes. Walkers are usually cheaper in Tesco in or around the 65c mark.

Jaysus I'm actually shocked at these prices. I haven't bought a packet of crisps in 30 years but I'm gobsmacked that they're more than 70c!

2d when I was a kid. Perri in a pale blue packet. They always tasted a bit odd.

There you go...30c per packet if you buy a box of 20. Still far cheaper even with the Euro Pound conversion.

Tesco has 16 packets of Tayto for a total of 4 euro.

You sound like my mother who's always shocked when I tell her the price of things which I buy. Then I try to explain to her those are normal everyday prices nowadays. Anyway that's inflation for ya.
