I'm sure it was commented on several times but I can't remember noticing Alexander-Arnold grabbing the ball and hoofing it into the stands before he goes to celebrate with the lads before. Big fan of that.

Thats the first time I've noticed Trent kicking the ball into our fans, fair play to him. Its a lovely souvenir for whoever caught it.

It looked like he tried to kick to the fans outside the stadium :pac:

Found our man - David Alaba. Dunno why I didn't think of him immediately. I'm sure Bayern would do business on the understanding that they get first dibs on Klopp in 2025.

Kieran Tierney can do the same postions though for a lot less.

I don't see those players, or Sessegnon, playing centre back. Sounds like they're looking for a Daley Blind-type player who isn't Daley Blind

Apparently we've made an official bid for Nicholas Pepe, according to reports in France:

    I love silly season.

I was a going to add we must be selling Mo as a joke and then see it's already covered in the article. They need to make this type of reporting a criminal offence.

I found this hilarious because I saw a version in the gaming humour thread. It may not be as funny as I think but sure any excuse. It's from that great reddit site.

And apparently bid 45m for Bruno Fernandez also...

Michael Edwards must be busy this morning :)

Neighbour - "can I borrow yer mower for an hour or two"
Edwards - "You can if you give me your car keys"

Rafa Honigstein says Liverpool are after a left sided player who can back up Robbo but also play mid and left side centre back which is basically "Carlos Gadget" territory. Not sure who that player might be.

    /off to transfermarkt.

    Sessegnon?

I don't see the point in another CB option unless we lose one. And all big clubs have 4 legit CB options, not back-ups like Fab. I'd rather a FB who can push forward.

I agree but was responding to what Harry said about us being interested in a player who can play left sided centre half or midfield.

Maybe looking to combine Lovren and Moreno replacements?

With over 60 games next year on the way to the Septuple I think that's still probably not enough. But I guess Milner still covers LB too.

Well I thought is was obvious that the club are going to let Lovren go if they find the player described above.

It's nice not needing to strengthen the first 11. Just a couple of players to replace Moreno, Sturridge and maybe Mignolet.

Erm, any team in the world could improve their first eleven, we're no different. Anyway we need a first 15 or 16 and not to be relying on the same players until they eventually break.

I'm not saying we couldn't improve them, I'm saying we have no need this summer. Our need is more for backup players. E.g. we're not looking to sign a first choice left back or goalkeeper to improve on Robertson and Alisson. Could we improve on them? Yeah maybe. But our need for a LB and GK is more is backups to them as opposed to previous windows when we'd be looking for a definite upgrade in those positions.

It's a good place to be in

I would like a forward player of high quality who can at least provide more competition for the first 11.

Chukwueze at Villarreal would be who I would sign.

Has a 50m release so maybe might get him for 40m. He will be a very good player.

WTF..... people get way too caught up in this.

I'm not getting involved in any of the various transfer rumours at all. Brush most of them off as nonsense.

I do think we will make 2 'strong' signings though - one forward and one defender. Then probably 2 squad players to replace outgoings - a GK and an another. I had previously thought that the forward was going to be Werner, but now I am more convinced that a Depay, Zaha, Son type player would be signed instead, so maybe that Pepe from Lille could be the one. 4 into 3 again next season in the forward positions.

I'd say there are a few deals already in place and just waiting to be announced

In recent years we seem to have had everything in place pretty early in the window

The Indo run the rule over the top 6 and their transfer targets. Very badly written for a start but there's absolutely no insight whatsoever in there. But posted for the par on us - interested to hear thoughts.
With the exits of Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno already confirmed by Liverpool and defender Dejan Lovren likely to join them on the departure list, Jurgen Klopp's wage bill will be given a sizeable trim this summer and that opens the door for some big-name arrivals.

Cover for Andy Robertson at full-back will be a priority for Klopp, with rumours linking Liverpool with a bid for in-demand Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt likely to come to nothing as his wage demands are inflated by interest from Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool will look add to their forward line following the departure of Sturridge, with FC Porto forward Moussa Marega and Athletic Madrid's Antoine Griezmann among those being linked with a move to Anfield.

    - Is there actually anything to suggest that Lovren is off? I won't miss him, I would understand if he did leave - he'd be a starter for many clubs - but is there actually any indication that it'll happen other than people posting on here? I've seen zero rumours.

    - That section about covering Robertson seems to imply that de Ligt is the target there... Different position there lads.

    - The Griezmann link - is that new? Another thing I've not seen anywhere!

Greizmann is set for Barcelona its been set up for months
De light will go to PSG only club willing to match his wage demands,
Lovren going will depend on what he wants , fight for a spot here or be a defo starter at a new club

Dejan Lovren is liked by the incoming DoF at Milaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaano Frederic Massara and it's expected he'll make a move to offer Liverpool the loose change in his cars ash tray

Last time I remember Liverpool being strongly linked with him was when he was still at Real Sociedad

Lovren is only being linked due to Boban going back there; don't think there is any truth in it as centre half is one of the few positions they have some cover in even if a player is sold.

Going to a team in Italy would be a good move for Lovren.

I think he'd so well in Germany - there is talk of Hummels moving, maybe Bayern would try him out? He's very highly rated in most circles...

So looks like we are going back to Southampton for a left back cover player.

Matt Targett the latest name now linked.

He fits the bill as a player who can play left back/left winger role from the above post by Harry.

Has Hummel's move not been confirmed?
I thought he'd gone back to Dortmund €10million and a pay cut IIRC?
