Put it up will up? :)

edit Put it up will you? Clearly still early for me.

    edit edit found it https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=97260512.

edit edit edit - that was most enjoyable. So many fallen soldiers though :( When Ole gets the boot he'll surely deserve something similar.

Quite the opposite. It's been pretty muted.

It looks like those saying we'd be unbearable got it wrong. Same ones would have been unbearable had we lost.

On another note it's definitely quieter around here in general, this thread for example was started on May 1st. Would have thought with Barca game, end of league, champions league final it'd be well gone. Still a bit to go too.

No, no, don't be silly, we're being unbearable. We're also the worst. Never forget that.

That thread is a great read.

Caovyn Lineah vs Rayne Wooney was a heavyweight knock for Caovyn

Transfermarkt have updated their player valuations. Total squad of 27 players is worth €1.1bn.

Robbo is now €60m, Trent €80m, Sadio €120m and Salah €150m. For some strange reason they have valued VVD at €90m with Hendo also looking a snip at €35m.

Doesn't matter anyway cause none of them are for sale

VVD is priced on his age which is understandable, but if he was sold this summer he'd still have to clear 100m by some distance

Yes but are any of them good enough to get into the Utd team yet?

It's still crazy money for a centre back. The transfer market is gone to pot. Utter reliance on TV money. What happens if the TV companies can no longer foot the bill. The price to consumers is still going up and something has to give. It looks like a big bubble. Somehow it was insulated from the last recession.

Long Rant to follow....as I am in the airport going out for work and have time .....

As it is going, there are a few elite clubs throughout Europe dominating the money tree. That does not help smaller clubs to grow and even attempt to catch up. The Scots have this already with 2 main clubs. Spain is similar with 2 main clubs. England has currently 6 main clubs that dominate. Italy has 3 maybe 4. In time, we could be left with just 2 monsters in each league.

Clubs could go bust trying to catch up. Similar to Leeds.

The fix I could see would be similar to US NFL with each club allowed a pay budget per season. Players would make a killing but it would end the transfer money madness. Transfers would be controlled to balance the leagues and send upcoming stars to lower clubs to start. Trades between big and smaller clubs at first signing for the rights to take the big gun would send money to lower clubs. It would rebalance the league over many years.

The TV money will end with a bust.

However it will be replaced with a boom from the streaming companies.

    After that who knows.

I don't see a difference. Unless each club controls and owns the streaming content via their own company and fans pay for access via LFCTV or similar. It still leaves the league in a mess for smaller clubs with much smaller fan base. Currently sky struggle to stop illegal streaming and I can't see each club employing their own "internet police" of sorts. So it's back to streaming companies similar to sky and nothing changes.

My flight is soon and this rant will end....

To his credit, first post in the thread is a shot at FSG....he’s consistent if nothing else.

Rest of the thread is as expected. Great to see all the United fans and the Arsenal fans who crawled out of the woodwork for it in the same predicament now.

I'd a big debate with some utd fans after the Barca 3-0 about some of the bile that was spewing that night.

Kept getting told it was part and parcel but I still maintain we've been very good on here the last few weeks.

Amazon are using this current deal as cheap test, they and Discovery Networks and maybe one or two others could blow BT and Sky out of the water if they choose to. In fact it's only the UK's broadcast regulations and the PL's preference for splitting the packages up that could keep them at bay to a degree - I suspect the book retailer would want the whole thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,452 ✭✭✭✭noodler

It's getting a bit ridic ATM Tho.

I get nowtv but then I've no BT games.

Splitting up doesn't feel like it's worked the way we'd hoped

I hope the day will come when I can just pay for LFC TV to watch our games. No interest in the rest.

This, and absolutely this, if I could play the club X fee a year to watch all the game's, I gladly would, until they offer something like that, I'll stick to my IPTV stream...

Or another option I was thinking was a PL pass for NBCSN and a VPN, I just haven't looked into it out of sheer laziness on my part...

And that's exactly why I hope that never happens.

Things are stacked against the smaller clubs as it is, I don't want them losing the revenue they get piggybacking on the bigger teams.

The La Liga system is wrong imo.

Some other fans, having grown up knowing nothing but success and trophies all their life, are now saying here that they're disillusioned with their club and tired of watching soccer these days. Some even talked about taking a break from it for a while. Just because their team hasn't hit the same heights they're used to. I think it's pretty funny reading those comments, especially as fans of that club were happy to deride us for supporting our team during the years we were crap

Don't really follow the Premier league any more mate. More into NFL these days

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Amazon's turnover for the first quarter of 2019 was just under $60B.

    Sky's 2018 year's turnover is about $15b.

    BT's 2018 year's turnover is about $26b.

If Amazon wanted to get into the market they could buy and sell Sky and BT and still have a huge profit.

Rafa Benitez signed on this day 2004.

I see Alisson is a father, well timed, get the screaming at 1am/2am/3am/4am/5am/6am phase out of the way over the break.

You'd certainly trust him to hold the baby. Does Karius have kids? ;)

When the inevitable happens and teams must include one female player, we could do worse than have a good look at Rolfo of Sweden. This from today
