Who else reckons this would be a good idea? They already have an 80s show on Fridays so I reckon a 90s one on Saturday nights would be a nice complementary show. I reckon someone who was on the radio in the 90s would be a good presenter - Dusty Rhodes for example.

Dusty Rhodes has a radio show on 4fm on Sundays 5 to 8pm which he plays 90s

Such a huge weekend for live music, nova missed a trick by not jumping on the weekend gigs, turned on the breakfast show for a second and had to switch off... Usual mundane Crap

They would have had to run it by Hayes...so no surprise they didnt play them...their listeners would have turned off....

At the rate that Hayes is wasting money fuelling his ego the station is doomed....

In fairness they have been in the sh1tter financially long before that dunce Hayes arrived on the scene but he is just compounding things.

Not so long ago, Nova's jingles used to boast something like "If you want to know what's happening in the Kardashians' lives, this isn't the station for you!"

This morning, Colon & Loosey spent 5 minutes wittering on about the girlfriend (or ex-girlfriend, who knows?) of the son of a footballer and a Spice Girl.

SO, that's full circle, then, is it?

Fúck Right Off, Colon & Loosey.

This x 10 - i think its something that's long lost from the Irish radio scene - so much potential to focus on bands playing upcoming gigs even if there's no financial involvement on behalf of the station - they could have had good fun with Metallica the last week, but nope - nothing!

One of the reasons I'm tuning into Kerrang Radio - wall to wall Download festival, Metallica etc at the moment - proper radio!

If it'd been Metallica at Knebworth then Planet Rock would have had a Metallica weekend or something.

Not if you live in poor internet areas like me. Can be listening along happily with no ads, get a small break in signal and you're back to ads :-(
Imagine if Nova did something like "The RockBlock". Hayes's heart and brain would explode lol......that is, if he has either of those organs ;-)

JC actually alluded to a rock show saying it would be great just to play what he wants to play.

Wishful thinking I'm afraid, as long as CH is there.

up until a couple of weeks ago the current song being player used to display on my car radio (Nova literally the only Irish station I've seen do this, though it's fairly common in France). Now it's just displaying the station name - anyone else noticed this?

I hear the Nova noise is coming back.

I'm going to hazard a guess it will be some sort of bowel movement belonging to one of those two on the morning show.

It's all they manage to talk about.

Still..?.....not surprising if you know Hayes tho.....he's a juvenile fool when it comes to humour....he carries around a whoppie cushion everywhere he goes....

Hayes and Lucy inflected my local odeon cinema with a really cringey ad. Horrific.

I'm surprised they're bringing it back. The last time they ran the Nova Noise it dragged on for months, resulting in the prize money ballooning to over €8000, from an initial prize pot of €1000 if I'm not mistaken? Perhaps they'll cap the prize money once it reaches a certain level or offer one single amount that doesn't change for the duration of the competition. Nevertheless, it gets pretty boring very quickly and it still doesn't address the issue that it can drag on indefinitely.

These style of competitions escalating in size is the radio stations own fault. If they filtered the callers who get on air rather than allowing people who guess the same reoccurring wrong answer getting on air then the competition wouldn't lose its appeal. I think they actually like idea that Deirdre from Donaghmede guesses the same thing that was wrong the previous 100 times!

..... thud, jingle, clunk....the noise of Branigan closing the Nova door for the last time.....do I win....:D

I completely agree with you. But I don't think they even have a dedicated member of staff to answer the phones, let alone screen calls. I've only ever rung the station a handful of times, usually with traffic updates. Pat Courtenay always answered the phone himself when I rang the show. Another time I rang during the old Morning Glory show to enter a competition, 'Producer Clint' answered on that occasion.

They also had a celebrity magician type person on and said it would be won by a young female student known by a certain name.

Low and behind.. someone by that name won it, who happened to be a student with a guess that was very similar to quite a few already made.

    What a coincidence.

This time, they say they're starting at €1000 and going up by €50 each day.

Think it was posted here some time ago but it’s been on my mind. Someone said that Marty talks about his kids all the time !! He sure does , to the point it’s sickening, little one has chicken pox ,,, he got socks for Father’s Day etc. Jesus why can’t he just play music and talk about music. I’d it that hard. He’s annoying me with his constant crap about baby food and what the baby looks at when they are out walking !! Rant over

I'm surprised they have the money to run such a competition, to be honest.
