Is there a Sinn Fein councillor in your area?

Starlings are very aggressive birds. And they flock in THOUSANDS. Too much for SF.

I put bird food out and usually it’s eaten really quickly by starlings. They’re not around the last few weeks though. Do they migrate?

They're all in the OP's garden.

    And what kills the sparrowhawk?

    A Golden eagle?

He will never be able to use his garden again

Then comes the farmer with the shotgun

Have you tried throwing your dog at the starlings ?

Obviously a smaller dog will easier to throw , but don't rule out throwing your dog off a roof top.

bit heavy [staffordshire] according to 'Kneemos' he's over fed.

    Anti-Bird spray. ;)

You can spray it on trees etc. Its usually non toxic so it will not kill them just keep them away.

Also remove any other food sources.

You can actually TRY making your own bird repellent with fizzy water and lots of strong chilli powder in a spray bottle.

Gradually in a day or so they will stop coming It may not happen over night.

Failing that use a lure to get a sparrow hawk and then get a goat to kill the sparrowhawk and a lion to kill the goat!

Start saving now for the tank, don't want to be messing around when that lion starts to turn due to lack of goats.

My garden is full of birds, mostly crows but some non bastard ones too!

There's this 1 particular starling who thinks he lives with us, he comes into the house at least 10 times a week. If the door is closed, he'll stand on the window sill looking in for 10 -15 minutes sometimes, even if you open the window while he's on the sill he'll stay put as often as not. I had him eating scrambled eggs off a teaspoon in my hand the other day.

I like the cut of his gib!:D

I had this exact issue. I bought a basic water sprinkler with motion sensor. Anytime they landed the water spray sent them away. After a week or so, the word on the street was out to the other starlings and they never came back

That's how my grandad got his ones! They were all wild originally.

Stop leaving the dog food outside too. It'll attract rats eventually.

Sad character that i am I bought a seagull a tin of sardines the other week - it looked starving and was injured. :( it gobbled them up.

Starlings are actually on the red danger list for going extinct because of loss of habitats and poisoning. Leave them enjoy their dog nosh. And maybe feed the dog a little less.what flavour dogfood are they eating? It would be wierd if it was bird/chicken :0

Ah leave the poor crows alone :D I love how smart they are.

Had a robin who was very similar to your starling in my last house. Used to sneak up on me while I was cleaning up the dog sh*t and scare the bejesus out of me. Friendly little fella though. He is missed.

No idea what sex it was btw, I always just called him a he.
