If the whole album has the same 'sound' as another more familiar artist check who the producer is maybe they have left some fingerprints in the similarities.

Great pick. I've always thought that sounded ridiculously close to Neil Young. I can't think of anything better than that, but The Archies' Sugar sounds a bit like a Monkees song to my ears, even though there were females in The Archies.
