Question about working with a CSEP when you enter Ireland

    Hi,

    I have been working on Ireland for the past 2 and a half years on a CSEP, meaning that I went 3 times to the GNIB already and now I am a Stamp 4 holder.

    I never had issues when renewing my visa (apart from someone asking something that I might have forgotten like payslips).

    But, I did have an odd situation when I entered Ireland. On my passport its written (Register for CSEP) on the first stamp that I got on immigration, which is odd as I did show them the CSEP when entering the country. Only yesterday (because me and my friends were chatting about the time that we moved to Ireland) I noticed that it states something on the lines of (Not allowed to work by the minister of justice). Notice that at that time I already had a valid CSEP at hand.
    I asked the company (which closed here in Ireland) and they said that there was no reason for me not to work (probably because I had the CSEP with me already).

    My concern is that this might become an issue when applying for citizenship. What would be considered here, what I have on my passport or the fact that I had the CSEP with me?

    If you have a valid stamp 4 then that is good enough.

    It sounds like they gave you the wrong stamp. You would have to go to GNIB to sort it out if necessary.

    Thanks mate, but it seems that I might have not properly expressed myself.

    This happened when I first entered the country, when I did not have any stamp.
    So this was between I entered the country and went to the GNIB (2 month after). The company that I worked for ensured that there would be no issue for me to work on the first 3 months.
    So that is the situation.
    I entered ireland, presented my CSEP, the person put on my passport (Register for CSEP) and there was a note saying that there was "no permission to work from ministry of justice". I entered ireland (again with a valid CSEP) and started to work (as the company that I was working on ensured me that there was no issue). 2 Months later I went to the gnib, got the stamp 1, it has been 3 years.
    My concern is that, when I request citzenship that becomes an issue.

    I think, and that is a guess, that the person on the imigration read only the first page that come with the CSEP (that tells me that I got one) and probably didn't read the second one.

    Not sure if now I explained myself better now. It has been almost 3 years since and now I have Stamp 4.
