Stick ice in the inner one and run the outer one under the hot tap.

Edit: scratch that! Run them both under the hot tap and then tap them gently against your thigh, use washing up liquid for lube.

Pour a load of fairy liquid on them.

Giving them a good bang against the tap should do it.

Easy OP , just set your house on fire.

Fairy liquid hasn't worked, no ice in the house, time for the petrol on the house

No need for such drastic action yet. I reckon I could easily separate them with a hammer

Why is it so dark? Did you take those photos last night?

But back to the matter at hand, I’d echo what was said above, put hot water in the bottom jug and then ice or even cold water on the mug.

    Good luck.

    WD40 works a treat.

Leave it as is. A type of Gordion Knot puzzle to intrigue and befuddle guests. Whoever frees the jug is the true king.

Chaim Lively Tableware, you're the one we look to for guidance, but WD40 is flammable.
    I know this from experience.

I’m not sure if this is a piss take or some sort of weird euphemism but just in case it’s a straight up question .....
just put them in a sink with warm soapy water and gently twist the mug.

A bit of olive oil around the rim.

    Why?

    How?

That's a special kind of stupid.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

I know how to solve that if it were a tea mug.
But coffee mugs I know nothing about.

Stick em in the oven for a while (not too hot), then pour cold water over the inner one.

Decide which one you like the most and give the other one a decent smack with a hammer.

Great success, hit them hard against the outside bin a few times and out they popped. Coffee mug was chipped so it stays in the bin but the gravy Jug is sound which was the important one. Dark picture since I'd the camera Flash left On

So now the coffee mug is stuck in the bin ?

Where did I say to ignite it? This is not in conjunction with burning the house down. A quick spray, twist apart, wash well. Job done.

Well that's a bit of an anticlimax.

So you lost the mug after all that, would have been easier to smash it so.
