Not doubting that for a second but surely you want to go play in one of the big leagues, Different if your French of course ,

Oh of course. I think he will move to Barca myself. But I just don't agree with the narrative that any young player would pick PSG over Barca purely cos of the money. Playing time to develop is a large factor too, and they are almost guaranteed it at PSG - more than Barca can offer there.

To be fair, PSG give a lot of playing time to young players.

Mbappe is 20 and has played 43 games this season.
Dagba is 20 and played 22 games this season.
Nkunku is 21 and played 29 games this season.
Diaby is 19 and played 34 games this season.
Kehrer is 20 and played 40 games this season.
Kimpembe is a bit older at 23, but also gets regular gametime.

Marquinhos was a regular starter at 19/20 when he was bought.
Rabiot pretty much went straight into the first team at 18/19
Veratti pretty much went straight into the first team at 19/20 when he was bought.

Even in the past, including the time of when they had money, players like Sakho & Lucas Moura were regularly getting game time also.

And they even signed Neymar at 25.

Medals and Champion League football every year on crazy money they would be foolish not to accept that.

The issue with joining PSG is they pay you so much you can be price out of a move in the future unless you run down a contract ,

I think Veratti has won like 21 titles in 6 years or something crazy like that ,

But its almost like cheating as the league is that bad, Does anyone really care about French league football outside of France ?

    Didn't have the goals though.

Didn't have the points either. What we needed to win the league as it finished was an extra point and 6 goals.

You could make the same argument for the Bundesliga. One horse race nearly every season unless there's unrest in the Bayern camp.

Serie A pretty much the same the last number of years with Juve. The 17/18 season was interesting to almost the end with Napoli.

Madrid had an off season so La Liga was very much a one horse race.

Last season in the premier league City finished so far ahead it looked like the premiership was going the same way except for our challenge. Spurs finished 26 points behind us in 3rd.

Surely young players see PSG move is not worth the move the Frence league is just pants ,

I know they will get bags of money but De ligt will get bags of money anywhere he goes,

As others have said, more chance of getting first team football which is what he said he wants from his next move.

    Plus bags of money! :pac:

He's just won the Dutch league. Can be guaranteed medals with PSG in France and a shot at the CL.

If PSG get De Gea and De Ligt they'll be a lot more solid at the back. I'd reckon they would have a better shot at the CL next season with those two signings.

Well at least one of our key players is having a good holiday this summer.

Hopefully Trump doesn't send him to the immigration camps in Texas because he comes from south of the Border!

I do hope if we do sign de Ligt or any other player for that matter this summer there won’t be a rush from posters wanting to loan them out sell them if they don’t start straight away next season.

I'd be more worried about injuries than motivation. City got 98 points and absorbed a lot of injuries, whereas Liverpool didn't really have any major absences for the year.

Carra was on the Redmen podcast and said he'd take 90 points for next year if he was offered it. He said the two games against city are vital - basically cup finals.

I'd love one or two quality attacking backups to cover for injuries and to have a plan b for games like leicester, west ham etc. I don't think Shaq/Origi/Brewster are enough.
Perhaps there wasn't any headline nightmare similar to losing the Ox, but we definitely had a period where the fitness of the players was on a knife edge and the team duly suffered for it.

Both teams had their issues with fitness and injuries; the difference was that City had the squad to call upon to get them through the tough times. We didn't unfortunately.

    4 weeks away.
Majority of #LFC squad back at Melwood on July 6 but a cautious approach being taken with players who have had little rest over the last 12 months. Tailored plans and extra rest in store for a number of stars.

Just remembered something... After the final, BT Sport showed Henderson being interviewed, on the pitch I think. I couldn't hear the Interview as I was in a pub, but when they cut back to the studio afterwards it looked like he'd said something surprising, as the panel looked like they were reacting to something. Does anyone know what he said, have a link to it or anything?

Think he said, 'this win is for the guys in the Liverpool superthread on boards, who never doubted me in anyway shape or form. Never questioned my ability, even when injures, form and where I played was affecting me. As for the poster, who thought I wasn't being best utilised in the midfield position that I didn't think suited me, ye can go **** yourselves!'

The Star reporting this evening that Leeds want to sign both Wilson and Kent.

The Qatars are looking into buying Leeds so they may have money to burn.

I was just watching the Brazil game and was wondering why Fabby was not in the squad. Or put another way why he was at the White House (other than to foul Trump with one of his sneaky 'who me? guv' limbs).

Bobby was very tidy when he came on, set the bad back up with a delicious lofted ball but Phil refused to score.

Doesn't make any sense at all not having him in the squad but the Brazilian team is like that, they called on Fernandinho instead who has been terrible for Brazil for a few years now and is 9 years older than Fabinho so he probably won't be in their next World Cup squad anyway.

More evidence of Tyler's anti-Liverpool bias:

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7123367/Fans-slam-Martin-Tyler-commentator-questions-Trent-Alexander-Arnold-good-enough.html

The guy just won the CL last week, appeared in the CL final for a second season in a row, came second in the league and has the most assists for a full back in the league, EVER, and this clown is questioning if he's good enough for the England team to play beside Harry bloody Maguire!

Wouldn't trust this guy as a source. Last summer he had us linked with this guy all summer long. Never happened.

That dance looks very familiar to one of our former players.

Quiet, we’re not allowed to speak the truth about commentary legend Martin Tyler. A lot of heads are still planted firmly in the sand regarding his work.

He probably thought that was against the spirit of the game.

Why would anyone care what Martin Tyler says?
