I feel like people are misremembering Sakho's time at Liverpool, he always looked like he was about to make a mistake, but he rarely actually did. He was lanky and awkward looking but was great with the ball, a lot like Matip really.

Was never a serious enough proposition if we were to go the elite level. Kloop gave him every chance as well but kept acting the clown off the pitch also!
Exactly. A mistake waiting to happen. Klopp was right to move on from him and take a big lump sum from Palace. And he defended badly to give us a pen while at it :)

I'd liken Sakho to Lovren; both clearly have their gifts but their heads you could never depend on. We've really lucked out with VVD and to a lesser extent Gomez if he can stay fit. Matip is a more than reasonable back up.

Not a great surprise, Randall still being on the books is a disgrace, just wasting everyone's time.
Bobby Adekanye was making noises about leaving to Lazio.

Freesports are showing Brazil v Honduras live on Sunday evening at 8 PM KO. It's being played in Porto Alegre as a Copa warm up.

Bit harsh on Randall to be honest

Sakho makes Lovren look like Einstein IMO

Matip was fantastic when called on this season

As if I couldn't love any more of this team, my day's :

Yeah we're not making it past round 4 of either the FA Cup or the League Cup, are we? Doesn't bother me as much now as it used to. When you see the other riches on offer....well...

What we should do is tell the under 23's players that the EPL trophy along with the League Cup and FA Cup is theirs to win while throwing in some squad players to give them game time.

The main focus should be on the the League, Champions League and the World Club Cup.

    Order of merit for me.

    League
    European Cup
    World Cup Cup
    European Super Cup
    FA Cup
    League Cup
    Charity Shield
    EPL Trophy

Why is the WCC so high? It's a worthless Mickey mouse cup like the charity shield.

Where is it on this year? It's usually on half way around the world

The club has never won it before.

By winning it ( 2 games) the prize money is twice that of winning the FA Cup. ( 6 games) and the prize money for winning the League Cup is £100k.

Now which ones are the Mickey mouse cups.

I don't think a couple of million in prize money is going to make a difference. Would barely get you an under 21s player.

Who cares about the money. It's about the glory and silverware. I'd be happy to win it but it's not a trophy anyone cares about. I've no idea where real Madrid played it last season, who they played or if they won it or not.

    Who cares about money?

Everyone involved in football cares about money that's why there is so much money involved.

If they didn't care about money we wouldn't have VVD, Alisson, Mane, Salah etc I'd be pretty sure those players will want to win it.

The Club World Cup is huge in South America and to those players it's as big as the Champions League.

I'm also pretty sure the sponsors who pay multi millions to the club to advertise their brands that enables the club to buy players care.

It's about Glory and Silverware..... Yet you don't care about the club being crowned club World Champions that seems very odd and contradictory to me.

I mean as a fan. You shouldn't care about the money.

Sure I'd like to win the trophy vbut ultimately...it's a Mickey mouse trophy. I'd take the FA cup anyday

Of course I care about the money as a fan.

It's that money that allows us to buy the players who win those Micky Mouse trophies and those trophies generate the money to buy more players.

Also, I daresay the Club World Cup within the next 5 years will be seen as significantly more important than it currently is, so would be nice to get an easy one on the board in the meantime. And at the same time, the league cup and FA cup mean less and less with each passing year... both 'events' pretty much passed by without a peep this year. The most memorable thing that happened being Pep getting annoyed about questions related to the financial investigations.

At the start of the season teams are miles off winning the league cup or FA cup, with loads of games to play, and months between them - we're already on the cusp of winning this one with only 2 games to go and we haven't even played a game. It's the hardest club competition in the world to get into so we may as well go all out to win the bloody thing since we're there.

Also, don't get me wrong - I'd love, and thoroughly enjoy, if we won the FA cup or League Cup. But those competitions come around every single year. So for this year, the World Club Cup is the one I want more. This is only our second opportunity - ever - to win it, so let's win it while we have the chance.

While I'd like to win these other trophies, I see them adding to potential fixture pile up that may hamper the real competitions.

You get a sweet patch on the Jersey!

    And it's in Qatar

And with Adidas & Nike getting ready to bid for the next jersey that patch is worth more money to those bids than a FA Cup or League Cup would.

The club can say well that £90m a year should be a £100m now for the World & European champions.

Entering the checkertrade trophy is setting up a PR failure. The lower league supporters hate it now and anything other than a win will create any number of sh'it posts in the humour thread!

Most other PL club have there under 23’s or Academy teams in it. Liverpool and Man U have been to hold outs for the last few seasons.

it is the 23s who play in that cup.

You'll be glued to it now I'm sure.

    .

I doubt the future success of the club is hinged on the difference in prize money between the world club cup and the fa cup tbh.

It's one of those "nice to win" things but I wouldnt be overly concerned by not winning it. If some players needed a rest I'd be happy if it was done then.

I'd never even heard of the Checkertrade Trophy, had to go Google it!

While the Club World Cup isn't the most important trophy, I'd love us to win it as we've never won it before. We lost the Intercontinental Cup the two years we did take part, and lost the Club World Championship in 2005 (which was so bloody annoying, the first goal scored against us in over 1000 mins of play, and we had 3 goals disallowed!), so it would be great to just win a trophy we never have. Though it's going to give us some interesting fixture headaches!

We could do what Alex did when he killed the allure of the FA Cup back in the day and pulled Man U out of it to take part in the Club World Cup.

That was when The FA Cup became a Mickey Mouse Cup.

Yeah I know and it's a good example of the little sides getting trampled on by big money. It was designed to give minnows a chance of a trophy contested between themselves, not for the academy of some of the worlds richest clubs to try and win. Victory in that would be facile.

If you believe that the FA Cup is a mickey mouse cup, then equally you should be in favour of a European Super League. Both are tantamount to the same thing - the marginalisation of smaller clubs and leagues. Ultimately neither are in any way a good thing

This is great from Sunday. Not sure if posted earlier. Klopp nearly falling at 9.13 min mark was gas
