It positively astonishes me that this man's opinions hold weight with anyone these days. It shows the paucity of eloquent footballing heads when he's still in gainful employment in this country. An absolute fossil.

He thinks the best defender to replace kompany is Harry maguire...I rest my case

Goodbye message from Studge, in before the usuals go at it like a junkyard dog going at the bones of a rotisserie chicken.

I'd say if you have nothing decent to say about it, just scroll on by.

Such a shame injuries wrecked his time here could have been a great ,unreal on his day , best of luck in the future YNWA

    Classy from Sturridge in fairness.

I think I've seen Origi's goal from about 400 different angles now and I'm still not tired of it. It's a great finish.

Just to be a little worldly for the moment - in the evils of modern ball . Is this a way a players says - I want more money ?

Great news but - back to reality at this stage.

Almost certainly saying he wants a better wage. But to be fair he has earned it. And with Sturridge going and not getting 120K a week for doing nothing it would be a little stupid of Van Dijk to not ask for an increase considering his record this season

Great to have decent back up for Firmino.

Shaq is playing a blinder against Portugal, 1-1 at the moment.

Only natural that sentiment will be high but he is really only good enough to be 3rd or 4th choice.

No other top club with ambitions to dominate would rely on Origi as their second choice striker.

That might appear harsh given his important goals this season but now is the time to remove emotion from our decision making.

Absolutely, Origi has earned legendary status, that's great for him and the club but yeah I can't see him forcing his way up the pecking order and will more than likely be demoted by our summer signings.

Origi scored the second and it was a great finish but he was really poor for every other second he was on the field. He's scored some huge goals but he's only good enough as 5th or 6th choice attacking option not 4th. An upgrade is vital.

I don't think it's quite fair to base any decisions on that game though... of the 4 attackers we played, only Mane had a decent game in general play. Origi has made a few big differences in games he's come on in over the past few months, even the ones he didn't score in. Lots of direct running and opening space by drawing defenders and putting their defence on the back foot. With his pace and size and quick feet he's a tricky fella for defenders to contain and can cause a lot of problems.

Totally agree we need one more option though, with Mane, Salah, and Bobby as our first trio, and then Origi, Brewster and a new player around the calibre of the first three brought in.

I'm not basing it on that one performance, just stating that even though he scored he was terrible for the rest of the time he was on the pitch which seems to be forgotten because he got the goal to seal the win, fair enough but lets not turn him into something he's not. If you look at all of his performances he's clearly not good enough, gotten big goals but most of the time he's been ok, which isn't good enough to be the next player after the main three which you agree with.

Just on Milner and his employment of the odd cynical foul or time wasting tactics (which is an asset and Liverpool needs players who can execute that stuff). I think it would be remiss not to mention Fabinho too. He's a great man for a carefully deployed clip or trip, followed with a hands-up "i did nothing ref" look. If he continues his excellent first season form (after the settling period), he's gonna be a collossus next season.

Fabinho's great at the gamesmanship, winning a free kick here in the Barca game could well have won us the match.

Hard to blame VVD wanting to capitalise on his current status.

I hope he's only on 100-150k a week cos I'd understand him being so peeved then (if these headlines or true).

A younger me would think he is doing this cos he wants to stay longer!

Add insult to injury and stick a bid in for Son.

He would slot perfectly into the front 3. Exactly what we need. Erickson looking for an out now. Others may follow.

Had to do some work on the computer tonight. Decided to listen back to the match on 5 live. There is something magical about radio commentary and a real feeling of being at the match :)

It still sounds as good as it did Saturday :D

    Edit: Origi just scored :P

I always thought than VVD was already on around 175k ish and was the top earner when he signed, up until Salah got his new deal last summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,814 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Can anyone see us signing a big player this summer?

You'd be terrified about standing still obviously but can't shake the feeling it'll be two out and maybe two "useful" players in.

Where and how did you manage this???

Grew up listening to Liverpool matches on 5 Live in the car in our driveway (it was the best reception there for some unknown reason)

I was the same listening whilst doing homework at home in the early 90's, but it was crappy 909 or 693 on MW where you would miss words and part of the action :)

Oh you have to use a VPN to listen outside UK. Just create an account and switch on VPN and happy days. I use it to listen to live match if I'm away from the TV.
