I have no issue with spurs fans. By in large they are a good bunch. Wouldnt have begrudged them victory. Delighted we won but for their fans it would have been nice for them. Hopefully they use this experience and come back next year. Aside from kane (who is class) they have no feckers in the team lol.

The club world cup thingy is on in Qatar in December. Not ideal, is it?

Ah **** where did you see that? I want to go but I wouldn’t go to Qatar

Was hoping it would be somewhere in Africa or South America

Qatar will use the games as testing ground for the World Cup.

I wonder will the club try and sign Kinsey Wolanski, good sprinter and a big presence up top.

Do we not have to beat Chelsea in super Cup to be in it?

No Champions Leagues winners enter it.

Well lads, I have to say that before the game I would have said that the result didn't really matter to the overall context and trajectory of Klopp's tenure. But after watching the celebrations yesterday, I have to concede that I was completely wrong on that score. Clearly this victory releases the pressure on this team. They have their major title and moment in history and the raucous celebrations will simultaneously lift a stifling veil of expectation them whilst serving as a reminder to them and any potential recruits that Liverpool does indeed mean more.

I also would have argued years ago, particularly in 2012, for the minor trophies like the League Cup or FA Cup holding value and being important. But again this weekend has yet again confirmed that there are only two real trophies in football. You win the league or you win the last and biggest game of the club season and you truly are victors for the summer. A cup doesn't have near the same meaning. Even the Europa League - while a far better and more important competition - doesn't compare. As such, this is really our first trophy in 14 years and, make no mistake about it, it protects Klopp's work to an extent that a LC or FA Cup - even a win against Sevilla in 2016 - couldn't touch.

We may now float in the ether for the next two months or so. And the celebration circuit will continue through the calendar year with special occassions like the European Super Cup and World Club Cup to look forward to. And it's so easy to celebrate this regime. Henry may be a WASP, but he's a WASP steeped in sporting culture and achievement. Klopp may be mad, informal and increasingly unique amongst modern football managers, but underneath it he's a good family man who bleeds good values. And the squad are a bunch of good pros who seem remarkably immune as a group to scandal in this age of social media where nothing is truly private. They are an easy group to root for, led by a culturally transcendent star in Mohammed Salah - a very very special talent for reasons beyond his footballing brilliance.

There's nothing to be negative about this morning. Some squad players will move on over the next few months, and some players will be signed. And there will be debates about those moves and some people will disagree, etc. But overall we have every reason to trust and be positive about how the club is being managed. We're in the best place we've been since the 80's. It took FSG the guts of a decade, but they've fulfilled their promises and brought us back to the top.

I'd love to see Qatar and Abi Dhabi declare war on each other.

Blue moon is having a collective fit about the number who watched the parade. They are sad...so sad. Losers (small hands as well I bet)

Don't get the hatred from City towards us, really don't.

It's the 2005 Chelsea effect. Everyone hates us but it really sparks something into life when we knock them out of a champions league

Because the turn out for Liverpool was so much greater than the turn out for them. Claiming the media is making the Liverpool figure up even though it came from the Police

We should honestly all sign up for blue moon logins, go over them and just be nice.

That would really piss them off.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Man City fans resent Liverpool because they ache to be the club that we are in so many ways. Money can buy them leagues and cups, but it can't buy them what makes us (or utd to be fair) the club that we are even when we're not as successful as them.

Kelleher playing for the Ireland under 21's this afternoon against China.

Guess he was one of the players not drinking.

Live on freesports if anyone isn't all footballed out.

Guus Hiddink is the coach of the Chinese under 21's.

Memphis Depay rumours will be flying as there is a picture of Gini and Van Dijk with the cup and between them is Memphis’ autobiography

Ok, it's 2 days after the Champions League Final. Where are our new signings? FFS. FSG out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Hopefully VVD and Gini will be showing off their medals to a few of those Dutch lads and skyping with Klopp while it's happening.

I'm sure a meeting in Blackpool can be arranged for next week.

Also great sense of calm on the forum in general since Saturday. No - one rubbing it in or whatever. Tons of respectful posting in the Spurs thread. Great vibes all round :)

On the bus, walking beside it herself John W and Tom were involved in every part of the celebrations taking it all in.
