St Vincents Hospital to IKEA

I'll be in St Vincents Hospital and I'm planning on making my way out to IKEA after.

I'm not from Dublin so don't really have a clue where I'm going!

Is it possible to get public transport from St Vincents out to IKEA, or would I be better off heading back into the city centre and making my way to IKEA from there?

Also, if City centre to IKEA is best, what's the handiest route to take, whether via Luas or bus or whatever? I'm open to all options!

Do you mean St. Vincent's in Elm Park or St. Vincent's in Fairview?

if it's st vincents elm park, the number 4 bus is the best option; there's a stop outside the hospital, and a stop less than a ten minute walk from ikea.

heading out to ikea, you'll want to get off at stop 322 if taking the 4 - though i've found an app called 'next bus dublin free' (i have it on an android phone, not sure if it's available on others) is handy as it tracks your position on the map.

you can also ask the driver to give you a holler when you get to the stop anyway.

As above, 4 or 7 from outside Merrion shopping centre or Vincent's to O'Connell Street. Then the 140 or 155 from O'Connell Street (same side of the road). The 155 from Bray to IKEA runs along the N11 so you could walk from Vincent's up to there (or take a 47) but really going to town (O'Connell) is the best option.

Walk to the Stillorgan Road and get the 155 from there.

You'd be better off getting the 4 from directly outside Vincent's to Stop 322 near IKEA as it looks like a shorter walk than going up to the N11 to get a 155 the 4 is also more frequent than the 155. As can be seen from streetview IKEA is visible from this stop.

@OP, if you're heading to ikea from the hospital, but not returning to the hospital after ikea, the 155 would probably be your best bet for getting back into the city centre; there's a stop just outside ikea. the 140 also leaves from ikea but AFAIK takes a noticeably longer route into the city.

4 to IKEA from the hospital and 155 back might be an idea
