I might go back for a look so

Will it be fun solo though ?

It has some good points, if you play Squads with a bad squad then it is almost impossible to survive as you come up against 3-4 players. But in solos it is more balanced. But if you can play with friends or a good squad, squads is much better.

Yea, feel you really need to use the mic with random squads to have any chance of working as a team. Had some funny crews last night. Lookin forward to tryin it with a few mates though.

Will be interesting to see how it develops over time, still seems like an add-on, no progression or incentives to keep playing. But a nice distraction to mix things up all the same.

Lets see how the Tides continue.. Dice still putting lot of works and big updates into Star Wars Battlefront 2 so I feel, they'll look after us in BFV similarly!

Progression is there, it is across the game. So you can keep ranking up and earning company coins.

I'd love to see some other modes tested out. Conquest could be epic.

Sorry, meant there's no Firestorm specific progression! Rank still ain't budging past 50!

What do you mean other modes tested? Conquest on Halvoy?

    :pac:

There is an assignment there specific to Firestorm I think. Don't think Halvoy is in Conquest (it would probably be unplayable because it's so large :D). Nice mix of terrain and areas though the centre of the map seems to be complete snow cover.

Yeah Halvoy is only Firestorm but the bfv maps seem to funnel infantry into an endless churn that isnt fun. Having space make Halvoy an adventure. I'd like to see them try it if even just for a week for ****s and giggles.

My thoughts after playing some firestorm solo and squad .

Solo is enjoyable enough as you are self reliant , to be honest my main problem is I am not familiar enough with the less common weapons to know are they worth swapping for what I currently have. Will prob play the odd round from here on .

Squad . Can be amazing or brutal depending on your sqaud . Had a great round where we got a tank from a bunker , however the driver was not listening to me when I said watch the fuel so we ran out , however I managed to position the tank on a hilltop overlooking the surrounding area, took out most of a squad from that spot however the remainder of my squad went on foot towards them and got wiped by the last guy , didn't last long as a solo then.

Had another round where a pair of lads ran off from the squad doing their own thing so that messed that round up instantly . Lot of guys not listening , sound is very important now with vehicles being heard well before seeing them.

I've the headphones on and I get spooked by my own footsteps/movements in Solo! So good.

I do enjoy squads, but complete luck of the draw with what you get matched with.

Had good fun last night, four of us being chased across the snow by a sturmtiger, ended up at a small camp where we found panzerfaust and nades and managed to finish it off. They did a great job of making sure tanks aren't unstoppable for a BR!

Yeah the. Fuel and ammo mechanic for the vehicles stops anybody running riot

I saw your squad got destroyed Shlippery in Jack Frags's latest video! Been playing a good few solo games, haven't won one yet. Always get ****ed over near the end haha. Really enjoying it though. What I would love is this huge open map with a conquest game mode thrown in for the craic.

Haha, good eye. I remember his name popping up, said he killed me with a Crocodile tank.. completely wiped us out.

Decided to spectate him in 3rd person view and watched til the end. Happy he got the win, less of a blow to my confidence

I was wondering if he'd be recording so was surreal seeing it in his latest video from his perspective :pac:

Is the sound of your own characters footsteps completely ****ing with anyone else's heads? Played solo last night with a new headset and literally spent 3 mins running non stop as I thought someone was chasing me, ended up jumping off a rock in to a 180 spin only to find nobody there :D

Upstairs in a house, wooden floor. Crouch, or just spin on the spot.

The paranoia flows through the veins.

My parachute scared the crap outta me, it takes a second to hit the ground when you land so I was up and running and next thing heard something right behind me, pegged it into a shed to hide from nothing :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,515 ✭✭✭Outkast_IRE

Think I will be playing solo moreso that squads . Had time for one game last night, played squads, we landed and within 2 minutes 2 members of the squad just ran off on their own , with no heads up or anything . They got creamed fairly fast but left us in a very weak position.

Is there a simplified comms system like in Apex? That works outrageously well. Looking forward to getting stuck into Firestorm later but I'd be really into squads, not a fan of lone wolf BR.

I think there is a spotting system in place but not too sure, haven't used it much. Lone wolf BR can be extremely tense compared to squads, just you on your own trying to survive against everyone else, scavenging what you can to keep going. Squad play loses a bit of that, there's less threat when you are strolling around with 3 extra guns on hand.

Not as good as Apex, missing the voice lines but you can indeed ping things around the place with Q

Won my first game and came 2nd in my second. So mad at myself as I was confronted by the last enemy squad head-on in the middle of reloading my MG34.

First night in months that we played BfV non stop till 3am. Couldn't get enough of it.

Not mad about Firestorm. It is good in some ways but overall I just find the experience dull. It can be tense but there is very little fun in it.

While the map is great in some ways I just think it is too samey and there are no iconic parts on the map.

Camping is the way forward too. 10 minutes into a game I go into a house and a guy pops up behind a chair and kills me. Sad ape. Can't see the fun in that.

In fairness he could have arrived to that house a minute before and heard you approaching and decided to ambush you.
Sucks for you but I'm sure he enjoyed it!

Well, BFV is really setting the world on fire

No posts in more than a month.

I remember during the BF3 and BF4 years when this forum would be hopping

BFV are bringing in a RSP program but it won't be here until Autumn. I think the lack of clan support is what is really killing the game. People say there's a lack of content, and there is, but that doesn't mean the game can't have a thriving fan base. There hasn't been a new map released for BFBC2 in a decade and there are still loads of people playing on the same few maps.

The difference is that there is practically zero clan support in BFV. There's no way for clans to play on the same server and practise or challenge other clans. There's maximum squads of 5 people and no way to switch teams.

There are a brace of new maps modes and features coming to the game by the end of the year. DICE can still recover this given that BF4 was a shambles for the first 8 months of it's release, but they need to do a lot of marketing and promotion to win back players and recover from the bad reputation that BFV has gotten since it's launch.

I think Firestorm needs to be free to play for everyone regardless of whether they've bought the base game. They're not gonna lose any money cause the game will be on sale for ****e all in a while, and some of the cosmetic packs will cost more than the base game by then.

EA need to redouble their efforts in the same way they did with Battlefront II. Pump in the resources, fix the game, recover its reputation and show commitment to the franchise in order to ensure that there will be any good will left for the next BF game that they launch in 2020.

They also need to provide progression. The levelcap is ****e, Rank 50 only takes a few weeks to reach and then it's just grinding for company coin and tides of war points to unlock guns and skins.
Why don't they have ranked servers, and player rankings!
It should be so easy to do. Have leaderboards for each country, for clans and individuals, for each class, map etc. I'd have no hope of being anywhere near the top, but for the good players, that's what sparks rivalries and builds communities. People would want to join the best clans, clan battles could get recognition in the scoreboards.

Simple stuff really, all it takes is a UI and an updated database to track the stats (which are all tracked already)

I said initially that I felt dirty for buying BFV after Soderlunds comments and I was never able to shake that - was a toss up between BFV and BLOPS 4 at Xmas and I backed the wrong one.

Got COD recently in a sale and to be honest (this is something I never thought I would say) but it pisses all over BFV and then some. The maps are good, the gunplay is punchy, the TTK is just right and to top it all off, Blackout is absolutely superior to Firestorm in every way.

As a long time Battlefield fan, the final verdict I can give on this is that they seriously dropped the ball with this one - everything from the prelaunch sjw bull**** to the maps to the gameplay is just a failure. If the next one is a Bad company entry I will certainly be picking it up but anything with an SJW slant or less than modern times and BF can get lost. It’s a really bad sign when you are going back to play BF4 or even Hardline over this, something is seriously wrong in that case :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 915 ✭✭✭stuff.hunter

ive dumped BFV for now, this game just sucks, UK servers are down, cheaters ...
...and switching to Hell Let Loose, WW2 fps quite hardcore :) but team / faction orientated game, not arcade like BFV

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

I agree they dropped the ball with BFV. They were too afraid to commit properly to a WW2 concept game and we ended up with a wierd hybrid especially with the extremely disappointing maps. Not a bad game at all, but a weak BF game. I'd say it's a toss up between BFV and Hardline for least played for me personally.

BF1 was a much, much better game. Better balance, significantly better maps, more fun. I'd nearly return to that before I'd go back to BFV, but the difference is I already put hundreds of hours into BF1, after about 60 I'd grown tired of BFV.

Firestorm is pretty good in fairness, should've prioritized that over single player for launch that realistically only a fraction of people ever bother with. Think it was Infinite Warfare (which actually has a great SP) where trophy tracking showed only something like 10% of people even finished the campaign.

Im kinda glad I didn't drop 60.00 euros on it.
I haven't even used up the free 10hours with ea access yet but I did say I wasn't impressed with it after playing the beta.
Dice / Ea need to get back to Battlefields roots if they want to keep the franchise going.

Does anyone know where I can few the Assignments/Daily Orders, other than exiting out of game, or waiting till round is over. Surely, having a Battlefield app to keep track could have existed, or is there one that I don't know about?

More hardware related q - but what would be best upgrade right now to improve BFV...(knowing that its a stuttering mess right now performance wise, but still ain't getting anywhere near the results i'd expect considering the hardware I have...)

    I've currently got an RTX2080 , 16gb DDR4 aaand an i5 8600k

...would an 8700k/9700k be a ludicrous upgrade or would there be any value in the easiest option of adding another 16GB RAM while it's somewhat less expensive? Or would it all be a waste of time and I should just hope that a patch miraculously improves performance?
