What benefit is there in having the mic turned on?

    Eavesdropping on your partner! ;)

I suppose it could be handy in the event that another driver starts verbally abusing you and you have both video and audio footage!

And you ll be able to listen back that impressive burp you had on your way too work.

Would be nice if the emergency recording that most of them have would always include sound, no matter what the setting.

Whats the new budget champion these days? I have a yi dash cam for over a year now and it's great but I think it's time to have a new setup with front and back cameras...

I must be the unlucky one with the YI cam. It's all good except I can't adjust the time on it anymore. Tried everything, factory reset etc and no joy. Has put me off them.

I found YI most reliable of all cams I used throughout years, if you ask me.

Re Masala's new car - all depends of your requirements:

    - single cam with GPS - Viofo A119 (if you drive during daylight time), or 119s (for night time driving),

    - single cam without GPS - YI,

    - dual cam with GPS - Viofo A129,

    - dual cam without GPS - two YIs. :D

Buy cheap, buy twice. Wouldn't even think about it if I was after a cam.

Hi joujou... what would GPS give me??? What the purpose of same on a dashcam??

You can track your route as well as speed - if anyone ever accuse you of speeding, you'd have a proof you didn't (or maybe not, if you actually were speeding, so careful with that). It's also handy when you travel through unknown areas - while you watch the footage, you can see where exactly it was.

It is handy, but each to their own - if you feel you don't need it, it's likely you really don't. :)

I'd definitely recommend the A129 for a dual setup. Very tidy size and shape and the video quality is excellent.

The GPS adds a geo-position and speed data to your videos.
It can be useful to prove that you are right, where you are, where you're going, etc.
It can also be a problem if you were speeding and get involved in an accident.
In my opinion, a dashcam with a GPS could make you more responsible on the road.

Hope someone can make a recommendation..I'm looking to make some YouTube videos for my driving school..test routes, mock tests etc.

I liked the idea of a dual cam to record in front of the car and inside as well (instructor and learner).

It doesn't have to be fancy, just able to record properly and record sound. I'm in no major rush so happy to order from Ali express etc.

Any suggestions much appreciated. Was hoping not to spend over €100 as it's only a few videos

Thanks, can they be "dual" so that they record outside and inside the car at the same time?
