it's been a great weekend for Atlanta

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,643 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Frosinone are gone after only managing a draw with Cagliari but Empoli making a fight of it with their 1-0 win over Fiorentina. Their keeper Dragowski kept them in it against his parent club. Difficult though to see Empoli staying up as they have to play Sampdoria and Inter away, plus Torino at home; Udinese on the other hand play Frosinone and Cagliari away, as well as SPAL at home. And Udinese are already 2 points ahead of them.

Looks like Quagliarella has the Capocannoniere this season as he's up to 25 goals, while Zapata's on 22 and Ronaldo and Piatek have 21. I hope Ronaldo can close the gap because the final game of the season is Sampdoria vs Juve and I like the idea of both men battling for it.

Holy ****. Milan won, AND Jose Mauri actually got on the pitch in serie a.

    Wonders never cease.

Not sure this will end well for Juve if they want the Champions League.
Allegri will be like oil and water with that dressing room in Paris, pardon the pun

Atlanta's visit to Juve next weekend is huge. They have Lazio midweek in the cup final so it's one of the biggest weeks in the club history.
Milan are desperate at the minute but a win vs Frosinone & SPAL may be enough to rob 4th place.

    That Juve jersey is horrible

Been an atrocious game of football.

Roma get a second late on but after the opener there was never any doubts of the winner. A game that was very poor in standard.
Atalanta can get something away in Turin next week. Even a point would be big for them.

What a goal from Belotti to win it for Torino against Sassuolo.

Palermo have been relegated to serie C for financial irregularities. Just reading the reddit thread on It and Serie B seems to be a right mess.

Parma still in danger of relegation. Just been well beaten 4-1 by Bologna and still have to play Fiorentina and Roma. They might just avoid the drop if other results help them out. Thought Erick Pulgar was great for Bologna and I could see him doing well at a bigger club. Inter vs Chievo coming up where you'd imagine Inter should win comfortably and retake third spot.
Inter XI: Handanovic; Cedric, Skriniar, Miranda, Asamoah; Vecino, Valero; Politano, Nainggolan, Perisic; Icardi.

Chievo XI: Semper; Depaoli, Tomovic, Cesar, Bani; Leris, Rigoni, Hetemaj; Vignato; Meggiorini, Grubac.

It ends 2-0 to Inter as they climb to third place. Perisic played well and got the second goal following Politano's opener.

Tricky game next as they visit Napoli. If they can win they are guaranteed Champions League football.

Atalanta through after an uncharacteristic mistake from Lafont. Really hope they win the final for what they've done the last few seasons, especially the way Lazio have went over and above to detract from their good result yesterday with some truly disturbing behaviour by their travelling fans & the idiots running that club.

Unfortunately Lazio won the final tonight.
Hopefully Atalanta can offer more the weekend when they visit Juve.

Huge blow for Roma's CL hopes tonight as they drew 0-0 away to Sassuolo. Just watched the highlights and El Shaarawy missed a sitter. Looked like a draw was a fair result though. Juve vs Atalanta and Napoli vs Inter are massive games tomorrow evening. You'd fancy Milan to beat Frosinone easily.

Looks like Udinese are safe after their win over S.P.A.L., while Genoa with a late equaliser from the spot against Cagliari but still looking in trouble. Empoli vs Torino tomorrow another big game.

Genoa are in big trouble now.
Empoli visit Inter next week who themselves may need to win that to get a Champions League spot if they lose at Napoli later. Genoa will visit Fiorentina next weekend. Another club for sale who's fans are in a standoff with their owner.

I'd like Empoli to stay up as they looked like goners at the end of April yet in the last few weeks they've managed wins over Fiorentina, Samp, and now a thrashing of Torino. Think there's an outside chance Fiorentina could go down if they lose to Genoa and the other teams win their games.

Parma are officially safe after beating Fiorentina today.

Not telling you anything you don't already know but Milan play absolutely awful football. Like a team in the bottom half. No pace & even less quality.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,643 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

What a beautiful free-kick from Suso.

2-0 now with a little over 20 minutes remaining so looks like Milan are going 4th. Pressure on Atalanta and Inter later.

Update: Milan win 2-0. Donnarumma made a great save in the final few minutes.

Worried for Atalanta in their game with Juve. Have a feeling Ronaldo will be well up for it with Quagliarella blanking yesterday. Chance to close the gap in the race to be top scorer. Zapata also in the running. Would have liked to check out that game but Eir are showing Napoli vs Inter so that's what I'm watching. Icardi on the bench for Inter.

I don't think they thought that far ahead. Poch, Deschamps & Conte were linked.
Simone Inzaghi, Sarri & Mihajlovic linked today. I think it will be Inzaghi even though he is a worse version of Allegri. They probably don't want to hear that they need 3 or maybe even 4 new starters either if they want a European Cup.

It's 2-0 Napoli. Mertens with a header from a lovely Callejon cross. Looking tough for Inter to get back into this. Koulibaly has been great. Seems to be feeling his hamstring but he's staying on.

Edit: And he's just cleared off the line a goalbound effort by Lautaro Martinez.

3-0 Napoli. Fabian Ruiz finishes from close range. Game over now surely.

4-0 Napoli now. Fabian Ruiz gets his second. Think Handanovic could have done better there at his near post. Inter look vulnerable every time Napoli pour forward.

4-1. Inter hit back through Icardi from the spot after Albiol concedes the pen. Looked soft to me.

Koulibaly gone off with a hamstring injury. He was immense today. 10 clearances in the game - one of which a goalline clearance - as well as 3 interceptions and 3 blocked shots.

Atalanta and Inter with favourable matches to be honest.

Milan probably gonna bet SPAL as they'll be phoning-it-in... Bad though throwing away 4th spot that they really should've had easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

The only problem for Atalanta is they are at home to Sassuolo who's ground they used for their last game as their own stadium is redeveloped.
Inter will likely earn it vs Empoli who need a win to stay safe.
I hope Atalanta get a spot regardless of who gets the other.

Guys am I right in thinking that if Empli lose tomorrow but Genoa draw, Genoa are not relegated?
