If it's just in your house use port 80, disable Https and disable login in webif by setting http authentication to no or disabled

I disabled HTTPS settings on both the box and the phone.

I'm Getting "Could not autodiscover any Dreambox on your local network"

You'll need to use port 80 and disable http authentication so you're not using a password

Failing that double check you up address is still the same in system network settings

These are the settings now. It's getting late and I appreciate you probably have other things to be at. If I have no luck after your next suggestion we'll leave it for another time.

The iPhone was a communal thing that we all used for Tiviar, Netflix , YouTube etc. All phones in the house are Android bar one. So If I can get this up and running on my phone I can set it up for everyone else.

If those settings aren't working your box up address has changed, check network setting on the box

    @sligojoek

Typing 192.168.1.120 (I assume is the IP you have assigned it from screenshot) into any browser should pull up webif.

That way you know its working.

Thanks STB. Yeah that's working perfectly. Straight into OpenWebif. I haven't had a chance to get back to this since. I'm not working tomorrow so will have a go again.

I havnt been on this thread in a while, I heard on the radio that there was an update to Saorview and was wondering does it apply to this box..if so how do I go about updating it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 276 ✭✭scottigael

Looking for a box that will let me have the Freesat and rte channels together without messing around changing inputs is this one still the best? I see it's 130 euro from satworld is that a good price? Does it support iptv as well or should I be looking at the zgemma h7s instead?

What update are you referring to?
The update to the Saorview Connect box or something else?

I'm assuming it's the Saorview frequencies reshuffle. There should be no changes needed if you added your transmitter to autobouquetmaker

You will need to update the frequencies, during the changeover period. What needs to be done depends on how ABM is set-up on the build you are using. If you're using my build, the details are given in this post.
Someone using THHB's build will have to give details on how to update this.

Hi. I've got the image flashed and all working reasonably well (I think!). Thanks very much for sharing it.

I put a hard drive inside and it shows up in the menu. Recording seems to work, although I think it needs to be formatted as ext3/4 for live pause/rewind. Is that right? If so is there a way to format the hard drive in the setup menu on the box. I've also managed to putty into the box if that's any use?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,956 ✭✭✭greasepalm

All enigma 2 boxes can format =erase everything or setup mounts.
menu-storage- settings- initialize device--- choose your hdd and except and let it setup.
Yes it needs to be showing as ext3/4.
This can be checked in mount manager and my et shows as Type ext4 R/W

Thanks greasepalm. My next question: Is there a manual for the Tiviar Alpha+ with Enigma2? Or is there an Enigma2 manual that covers all linux boxes?

I have the Tiviar Alpha+ manual but it is practically useless because the Enigma2 software is so much different to the stock software that normally comes with the Tiviar!

The only manual i know of is from openvix on wos here

Has anyone used a SAT>IP or similar device with this on OpenVix - or is it even possible?

My aerial and satellite cables come in at opposite ends of the house but I've network cabled throughout so was hoping I could use either a HDHomeRun to do SaorView or a Telestar Digibit R1 for the satellite.

If you are thinking that way why not go completely LAN delivered service throughout the house?
Centralise the tuners with SAT>IP being delivered to simple cheap devices or ethernet connected smart TVs and other devices.
Might be worth a thought ...

EDIT: The different tuner boxes could be at opposite ends of the house and the tuner manager anywhere on the LAN ...

Dont come to my house as its coaxial cable heaven as plenty of extra feeds were added or could be added to.

Had toyed with this idea but dislike the thought of a server sitting there just to run something like TVHeadend (and I'd have to fund said server and the finance department aka wifey is iffy enough as it is buying just the boxes!)

Can Openvix act as a TVH client even if that was possible?

I am presently using a cheap ARM device as server ...... about €40, so easily funded ..... or use an R-Pi or similar.
Storage for media/recordings would also be separate of course.
Similar priced boxes act as clients as I do not own 'smart' TVs.

Of course the money would be spent on the tuners ..... but one set for all.

While trying to record a program I keep getting this error: "Write error while recording: disk full?"

I've deleted a load of programs so there should be lots of space on the HDD. Any ideas?

Also, while watching RTE, even though the subtitles are turned off, sometimes a subtitle will appear on screen and then stick on the screen. Any ideas on what might be causing that?

You may have deleted recordings but did you empty the trash can where all your deleted recordings go?
All usb and hdd devices need to be setup as ext4 R / W to be used correctly.

No I didn't empty the trash can. I thought when I deleted the recordings that were deleted, didn't know I had to do it again in the trashcan. Thanks

Btw how do I empty the trash can? I ended up deleting everything one by one as I couldn't see the option

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,956 ✭✭✭greasepalm

Click on the trashcan then you will see all its contents click and delete each one in turn and when finished click on the trashcan to return to the other locations.
This is whats in my trash awaiting removal.

Check MENU > SETUP > RECORDINGS & TIMESHIFT > RECORDING SETTINGS > look for "REMOVE ITEMS FROM TRASH CAN AFTER (DAYS)"
I have mine set to 3 days but if memory serves the default is 7 which may be too long if you do a lot of recording/deleting.
Remember to hit save before exiting the settings.

Was looking to get another Tiviar but it seems they are now end of life. Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative box with good image support?

I was thinking maybe the zgemma which is higher specced for the same money: https://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/air-digital-zgemma/zgemma-h7s

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,956 ✭✭✭greasepalm

The newer zgemma seem to be good and well supported.
