    Hi
I currently work in the event industry, and its reasonable pay. I am disheartened every day at the amount of waste generated by the industry, and I am done participating in it. I have worked as an employee, as a freelancer, and then as an employer over the years that I have been involved. I would love to turn to something more in line with my ethics. Hard work an learning new skills are not a problem.

I would like to maintain the same level of pay. I prefer labour work, outdoors work.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Is there anything you can do to raise the issue internally?
Things have started to shift a good bit in the last year or two, with the public calling for more environmentally conscious practices, even for party orientated music festivals. It might be a good time to embrace this change and include that aspect of things in your company? Is it something you could suggest to management?

there is very little I can do from my position, although I do what I can, save as much stuff from the skip as I can, rant and rave about the waste and wasteful practices. I ran a few micro festivals that focused heavily on being environmentally sound behind the scenes, and am working on a larger scale project for 2020, in which there will be an environmentally sound approach, but the industry is shifting much too slowly for my liking, and i've just gotten more sick of it year after year.

Why not take up an apprenticeship?
