Rear dashcam problem

I got a nextbase 512 front and rear dashcam recently.

I installed the front one and it was working just fine.

Decided to hardwire it directly to the fuse box and add on the rear camera. got a hardwire kit and managed to hardwire the front camera.

Installed the rear camera and then connected it to the front one.... initially I got the message you are supposed to get (choose which side of the screen to view the rear camera in).... but it didn't show any image from the rear camera. Just a yellow outline of where I assume the image from the rear camera should be.

After multiple attempts the front camera started to have issues.... it would constantly restart itself if the rear camera was connected, it was getting very hot to touch, and it then reset the date and time (whereas previously it displayed the correct date and time based on GPS).

I've tried resetting the front camera. I also tried updating the firmware as it says in the leaflet that comes with the rear camera - but the app is telling me that the firmware is the latest version and no updates are available.

I've had to disconnect the rear camera again as the front one just wasn't performing while the rear one was plugged in.

I called Nextbase technical support but all they said was to return the rear camera to where I bought it as it "sounds like a hardware issue"....

This is on a 2016 X-Trail btw in case that makes any difference.

    Anybody have any ideas please???

Have you checked the firmware version of the 512 latest should afaik be 22.5,

You mention the front camera worked perfectly and you then hardwired it along with the rear cam, have you tried the setup without being hardwired?

Yes I tried it with the normal plug in to the cigarette lighter power supply - same issue.

Yes the firmware is 22.5 if I remember correctly (not near it at the min) but in any case it wouldn't allow me to update anything and told me it was up to date.... I've left the rear camera disconnected for now. Waiting for a response from Micksgarage.com as thats where I bought the rear cam.
