Cancelled car insurance policy, but still debited.

Hi

I have rang on the 16th of April to cancel my car insurance policy. I have been advised that policy will be cancelled as soon as I will post my insurance disc, which has been delivered on the 19 of April, however i was still debited on the 29 of April.
can this be amended please. I tried to contact helpline but the 1890 number wont work from outside the country.
