Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Right,

    Anyone know what a TW reg is?

    Saw this vehicle up and down that had a xxxx ZW reg, which was impossible as it was a latest shape Range.

    Now it's changed to xxxx TW.

    Thoughts?

    TW would be an old series reg number from Essex in the UK.

    Thanks. It seems a major scam so. Was a 2017 RR on a ZW plate, I queried it with Revenue and a few months later it became a TW plate.

    Bizarre stuff.

    AFAIK the last LR to fit on a classic chassis was the P38 and the Disco II. I didn't think it was remotely possible to fit the newer bodies.

    with personalised plates in the UK (many sites selling them) it is possible to make a New car look older with Old Reg but not an Old Car look newer

    This is an Irish car though. Went from ZW to TW and from Irish plate to yellow plate.

    Four digit number followed by ZW was Kildare 1983-1986.

    The car has probably been exported to UK and is on a yellow personal plate.

    What was going on before that is unclear.

    ZW followed by digits was also issued in the 1950/60's in Kildare

    Correct but the car mentioned by the OP was the reverse sequence ie. xxxx ZW.
    A strange case to see it on a modern car anyway.

    Speculation:

    Fella puts a 2017 R/Rover on a ZW plate, hoping no one will notice.
    People notice, and he gets told to cop on to himself.
    He reckons the next-cheapest way to do things is to export it to the UK (on paper, not physically) and then buys the closest-appearing UK reg to a ZW or ZV one, and continues to run it in Irl, hoping no one will notice (but they have).

    ...Or he could have moved to the UK, bought a nice old plate, and continues to regularly visit Irl for periods of less than six months...

    And the zw reg that this RE was is now a Seat Ibiza.. didn't think they made them in 1986.

    The VIN plate will fit any vehicle. There are too many cars driving around on classic plates that didn't exist at the time. You'd think that someone in authority would notice when vehicles launched in the late 90s are trying to register for classic plates, but nothing will happen till someone is badly injured.
