It is more convenient to blame a fringe conspiracy theory for the threat to public health than to face the reality that HIV, TB, measles and other disease increases have a correlation with immigration from regions where these diseases are prevalent. The increase in Measles does vary across the EU but some of the highest rates of increases have been seen in Northern and Eastern states which in fact see net outward migration, but also have seen a rise in more extreme left and right wing politics in the current generation. This is where the correlation is made.

Yes, and as HIV Ireland tells us, 63% of new HIV infections come from people born abroad.

Many here also would be quite happy to pay for a lifetimes treatment for these people while shrugging their shoulders at Irish people being denied Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis drugs etc because the HSE says they're 'too expensive'

You're a disgrace to say the least, those on HIV drugs are not the reason for not CF drugs. I don't favour not funding but that rationale for not purchasing them is because pharmaceutical companies are massively overpricing the drugs. I did not claim that it was the fault of HIV sufferers, misrepresentation as per usual on this thread.

I happen to know a foreign HIV sufferer and I'm happy that they are getting the treatment they need.

But I certainly do believe that anyone coming in should be screened and informed that if they want to stay then they pay for their own medication. If the majority of the cost is Tax payer subsidised - fine, no problem.
But the idea that Irish people are denied life saving drugs while someone newly arrived is not is the real disgrace.
