Quick question and apologies if this is obvious or has been asked and answered already. If I trade my southern reg car in up north am I entitled to claim back the VRT at the current market value? Hope that makes sense.

To claim a refund the car needs to be permanently registered in another country, you need to provide the new registration number.

The dealer is not going to register it until such a time as they have a buyer, indeed they may also sell it back into the south.

Don't most dealers in NI just trade the cars back across the border?
