    Interesting story in the context of the myth of scofflaw cyclists, always breaking red lights, riding on the footpath, etc.:

    from November 26th, when two Go Safe speed detection vans were installed on site, the numbers rose with more than 100 cases in the first day alone.

    There are now more than 13,700 fines issued since the roadworks began, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) said on Friday afternoon.

    Recently had to sit through the Greatest Showman film and hated it.

    Fast-forward to today when I see a band I like covered one of the songs from it, and this will get the pedals turning faster in the morning !!!! Love when bands make their own of a song.

    The rear sus is pivoting based on carbon flex. Im sure they've stress tested it for 10,000 cycles or whatever but still. Not sure I'd feel safe on that.

    It may be that the most enduring aspect of this system is the front suspension, since that's the most useful (as evidenced by hardtail MTBs), both for vibration damping (which isn't just a comfort issue, it can cause real damage to your body) and handling+grip on bumpy, wet technical descents. If you want to soften the arse-hammering on a short section of rough road you can stand on the pedals a bit, but there's no equivalent up front.

    But the full sus approach does address the main criticism of previous attempts at softening road bikes, which is that bike handles weirdly because the front is stiff and the back is soft.

    The obvious limitation is that it won't work in the one of the cases where it really makes sense: hitting a pothole on an otherwise smooth road.

    That moment you go for the drops to stretch out a bit and then realise you're on a Dublin Bike.

    Also, a motorcycle Guard had a load of electric scooters piled up on Kevin St. this morning, recovery truck there too to take them all away.

    Saw that myself, huge amount of them go along there and down along the canal as well.

    Seems crazy to me to be taking them, they're helping the issues not adding to them.

    Anyone ever have any issues from DHL in deliveries. Item shipped last week but got to Koln in Germany and has been sitting there ever since, 6 days in their warehouse. Seems odd, I used to do alot of shipments for my old job and anything over 48hours was unheard of over such a distance. They say not to complain until at least 6 days has passed, anyone know is this normal?

    At Christmas I had them return a monitor I ordered to source as a glitch in the suppliers system left my county out of the address on the label despite my phone being on the label. It was despatched a second time and arrived two weeks later DOA took another few weeks to get it returned and wait for stock. 6 weeks after initial order that should have taken 3 days I got a working monitor and a €50 refund as it had dropped in price during that period.

    I've generally had good experience with them but anything that sits around for more than a couple of days is likely an issue.

    That's what I was thinking, I have shipped with them and Fed Ex all over the world, and bar a few unusual places, unless customs held the items for inspection, it was 24 hours inside Europe, 24 - 48 for North America and upto 72 hours for the rest of the world

    DHL offer courier and mail services, if its the mail service then such a delay can occur before AP scan it here.

    I had something like this happen in the middle of an emergency in the last couple of years - can't remember what the emergency was - and I was told that when it's mail, they let it stack up till they have a container's worth. But I'm not sure this was DHL.

    This is a fairly decent size box, paid 40quid for delivery so presumed it was courier or at least would not be so slow.

    Itll track as "e-Packet" if its the mail service. If its "Express" then it should have moved.

    We haven't had any Icelandic volcanoes of late.

    But if are supposed to be taxed, insured etc., surely it's only right that they should be confiscated, the same as any other uninsured, untaxed, unregistered M.P.V.

    if only they acted this quickly on vehicle violations. electric scooter thing sounds mostly like witch hunt, their are restrictions which if your under they have no case to take it from you

    looks like its not covered under law really from 2nd reading, sums up our attitudes here instead of ensuring they arnt used on footpaths and regulating them, we get the most gardai acton ever seen.
