JJ Kavanagh's bus service has just ditched a lot of what might be considered the "smaller" stops from their Limerick to Dublin airport service including Mountrath.

Lots of local people use this service to get into Portlaoise or beyond, and unless I am missing something, this leaves commuters relying on the small local link service as Bus Eireann have long cut the service from Mountrath. It absolutely stinks  and I would encourage anyone affected to contact the local TDs.

They’ve done that allover. Their Waterford and Clonmel services have gradually migrated to the M9 instead of the old routes with a skeleton type service remaining- the vast bulk of their passengers want this as it’s far faster. Such is the way of the world.
They had meetings in Castlecomer and Athy when that route was cut, JJ kavanagh did stuck to some services on the old road but there was a good passenger loading still there

This isn't a JJ Kavanagh decision, but one of the NTA. These routes are decided at that level, and tendered out. JJ Kavanagh ran the route, Bus Éireann others. They must be trying to use the local/town links more to feed to the bigger towns for the main bus service

According to the NTA, this *was* a commercial decision by Kavanagh's:

The local link service has been asked by the NTA to cover the gaps in service.
