Can anyone recommend a good garage in the Killarney/Farranfore area for high end cars? I don't really trust most of them anymore. Last year, my car developed a knocking in the engine which of course had me very concerned. I took it to my local garage who claimed to have removed the drive belt and started the engine with no drive belt...so he claimed and could not figure out where the knocking was coming from. He basically told me not to worry about it to just drive it until what ever was making the noise broke and then buy a new engine. Needless to say I was not satisfied with this. I took it to several garages with similar results. Finally off of a recommendation, took it to a garage in Tralee who diagnosed the noise within 10 minutes. My timing belt was peeling like a banana and had a flap hanging off of one side that was bagging against the engine as the belt turned, creating the noise. My timing belt was almost gone by the time it was found. So I am looking for I am looking for a good mechanic who will actually do the job I ask them to do and who knows what they are doing. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

If your car is high end maybe you should go with a dealer with specialist mechanics for your brand?

I drive a Lexus and the nearest Lexus dealer is in Cork. Toyota Dealers can do some of the work but not all of it.

Why not just stick with the guy in Tralee?

It’s not that far to travel if you’re happy with his work.

Only because he is very busy and popular and when I take my car to him, he always wants to me to leave it as soon as he opens and pick it up that afternoon...he is also on the outskirts of Tralee...I would rather just not wait around for hours and would rather find someplace closer to home.
