To be honest I don't know what he's definitely guilty of apart from being crushingly annoying and about as funny as a car crash - and that's enough in and of itself to hope that we never hear or see from him again.

I think he redemption story isn't going as well as he'd like-he didn't get big supporters coming out going 'good on ya Al'-for example, even Rory Cowan stayed away.

I think he's probably gone off angry that his 'Redemption Arc' 2.0 didn't get picked up by much of the mainstream media-a few tabloids, but mostly friends.
RTE didn't wanna know, Virgin Media 1 didn't wanna know, and even Xpose probably won't report on it.

He had the regular joe soaps out in full force for him, but everyone else sodded off.

Even that picture of him sitting at his laptop did more damage than good.

I’m not a big fan of him either it has to be said from what I saw of him on The Late Late. He has a style of humour that’s very popular in Dublin: lewd innuendo, cackling, and references to places in Dublin. The latter being something people from the capital find endlessly fascinating for some reason.

1 thing I’ve noticed is most of his twitter supporters are women-rough estimate 90percent women.

Would they be so quick to support a straight man facing similar allegations but against women?

    Just wondering what ppl think.

Welp, he just deleted all tweets from the past 2 weeks. Guilt?

Only saw this this morning. Very strange.

Guilt!? more likely that he and his PR manager realized his tweets weren't having the desired impact.

He had retweeted a number of posts from this thread, edited to suit his agenda.

It was clear what was happening: a PR stunt to re-frame himself as a victim.

And for him to be seen as a victim, someone needed to take on the role of baddie. This is where the retweeting of negative boards.ie posts came in. The so-called internet trolls (i.e. anyone who doesn't pat him on the back for being a brave little fella) were being cast as the baddies in this.

This would've suited RTE's agenda too because usually any form of criticism whatsoever about them online is attributed to "keyboard warriors" and such (just listen to Tubridy for example)

Classy, using this as a reason to have a pop at Dublin, now this may shock you but I don’t know a single Dub that thinks he’s anything other than an unfunny clown who mistakes loud for funny. Obviously some people for whatever reason enjoyed him but if you think they were only dubs then your wrong beyond belief.

Actually I'd say his fan base even in Dublin was very limited, but to be fair I'd be fairly certain that before he became headline news for scandal, if you mentioned his name to most people outside of Dublin, they wouldn't have a clue who he was.

Well I don’t want to take this thread off topic, so let’s agree to disagree. I personally believe that the vast, vast majority of his fans were from Dublin, and so were any of his post-scandal apologists.

It appears to me his career plan was to get established here but then target the Uk market

He was well known for being on the Telly and the radio, his reach was through those mediums, it was inexplicable why he was on them but he wasn’t known through any particular Dublin centric medium.

His PR team have obviously told him ‘too soon’. Hopefully he’ll crawl back under the stone he has been hiding under and stay there.

The vast vast majority of the population is from Dublin.....(compared to other counties) Being from Dublin and a lot of material aimed at him being from Tallaght obviously he will attract more attention to folk familiar with the area

Not quite but your point is valid. I don’t think he was anymore popular in Dublin than anywhere else, obviously numbers wise there are more Dubs that like him but that’s based on there being more Dubs.
I’ve never heard a single person I know have a good word about him and I’m talking pre the scandal, the media loved him as he was loud, it’s the same reason Jason Byrne gets work.

Hes saying on Twitter how great he found pieta house.

Pieta house might find their income donation plummet.

Yeah he was heading for mcintire territory I thought or camp presenting jobs...

Theres no way he's getting redemption until he confronts the issues

Thing is, I don't think he can make a comeback. His type of humour won't go down well at all after doing what he did. He can't make the usual sexual innuendo jokes any more. If he was an actor in fair City or some shít he might get away with it. But not when his entire person revolves around sexual innuendo

yeah thats his main problem, his sexual innuendo act is stale and tired and that matched with his busy hands does not sit well with people.

If he has any comeback it will be limited to pantos, variety shows and opening supermarkets. There is no way Today FM or RTE or any other national media are going to take another chance on him. In fact perhaps his best hope is to head to the UK and try to build a profile there.

Anyway what was said in the deleted tweets last night?

I have to say I absolutely hate his comedy but I find the scandal fairly over blown. Unless you can prove the allegations.

There is some indication that formal apologies on social media make things worse.

Hasn't he more or less admitted publicly he's a bit of an octopus?

    Careers aside that's sexual assault.

I've met countless gay men who are the complete opposite.
They think nothing of cuddling up-groping if I'm honest-to women they've only just met.

    strange behaviour.. .

Sort of. All dressed up so that his apology isn't really an apology at all.

He's his own worst enemy. Who is advising him? If he just came out on the likes of late late (not with tubs tho) and said look I'm feckin eejit with a few drinks and I've seriously
****ed up. No jokes ... no innuendo ...Ive just read the situs way wrong and acted completely out of order . He'd be better served than all this going to ground then spouting the victim ****e every few months then deleting and disappearing again. Rinse repeat. Come out and say you ****ed up . Not this mealy mouthed ****e.
As far as I remember some of the allegations were during work, he cannot blame a few drinks on it.

In keeping with his flamboyant persona.....or some such crap.
It was the definition of a non apology.

Also as a gay man I can safely say myself and none of my friends think it is funny or normal behavior in any way to grope another person.....despite what some of the other posts here are saying.

He'll come out with "I'm sorry if anyone was offended". That's the ultimate non apology

I think you are overstating it. I know I wasn't implying that.

You said the below...if I took you wrong I apologise...but I thought your comment was pretty clear? What were you implying?
