    Goals:

I actually thought this was a scuffed finish at first, deflection or something, but it's actually great:

    Penalty shout:

Loved this header from Keita almost as much as his one for the goal:

And finally, I'm sure you all thought I was joking when I said this:
Who wants to join me in over-analysing Keita every time he chests the ball

But here it is, the much awaited Naby Keita chest compilation:

Have we anyone close to the yellow card limit ?

There’s a few alright, but as long as they aren’t provoked in here they should hopefully avoid the 2 week ban. We need everyone posting for the final stretch of the season.

Fabinho has the most with 6, after game 32 you need 15 for a ban. We're cool.

Edit :I should have read that right before replying!

I think tonight highlighted why Henderson should be used primarily from the bench from next season. He's excellent off the time due to his energy and his ability to play a solid attack role or defensive role. Whether you are winning or losing a game he would be excellent to introduce. If he started tonight I think he would have been fairly poor and struggled against Saints pressing. Once they were tired it was the ideal situation for him.

    I find that bizarre tbh.

The midfield was completely unbalanced and Henderson had to come on to correct it.

If anything this game showed why he has to start.

Our midfield has been unbalanced plenty of times when he has started.

Not to the point where we are being overrun.

It has to be better to be solid and overreliant on the front three than watch us second to every ball and constantly on the back foot.

Bother are a bit unbalanced but christ I'll take the first every day of the week.

Love Southamptons walk out music, I've heard it before but can't think what it is, any ideas?

Spare a thought for the lads planning to finally empty the hard-drive of all those hilarious Klopp is Keegan/Gerrard slip meme's into the Humour thread tonight... had them all selected and ready to go after Long's goal I'd say.

We'll drop points eventually so we'll be bottlers again then, but for now, hang tough.

Decent tune, real pity they tried to give everyone in the ground an epileptic fit with that light show though.

Henderson isn't a number 6, he looked a brilliant box to box midfielder under Rodgers but has had his balls clipped by Klopp. He doesn't have the intelligence and discipline to play that role I really wish Klopp would realise that.

I agree with that. I don't think there is much in it between Henderson, gini and milner in terms of ability. They are all on a very similar level. Fabinho is one who is above all 3 and should be a guranteed starter. I'd have Henderson on the bench because he can make an excellent impact off the bench unlike the other two.

I don't see where you get this from, he has to be the most disciplined player in the squad and does exactly what Klopp wants.

I agree he's better suited to play in a more advanced role but to say he hasn't got the intelligence is very unfair.

It's not his best position, but he's been a fairly excellent 6. The problem has been that if he's 6, since Can left there's no-one to drive through midfield. It's what we thought Keita would do, but hasn't yet.

But he was our 6 week in week out for the first half of the season when we had conceded 7 goals in 16 or so games. If anything, I'd say the discipline he showed in that role is what has gotten him most of his abuse... sitting in that spot at base of the midfield as an outball, switching play with his "sideways passes". They weren't pretty to look at, but he made bloody sure we kept the ball, and kept pushing that pressure on. He was always the one dictating where the defensive line began, never letting space open up for the opposition, so it became a constant ever-tightening screw pushing them deeper and deeper.

Yeah, I can see that alright, though i'd say Milner has been pretty effective off the bench plenty of times. I'd nearly just swap them out for each other game by game, since it's a high-intensity role usually, and it preserves their legs.

Gini is just a different thing altogether, I wouldn't put him in with Milner and Hendo... Gini offers something they don't - the ability to take the ball under pressure and turn his man and find a more attacking pass. He's a great man for turning defence to attack very quickly, and relieving the pressure of an opposition press.

    Ideally i'd see our midfield 3 as;
Fabinho - the breaker, and builder at 6. Calming things down, stopping attacks, and looking for the simple ball where it's there, but with the ability to pick out a defence splitter from 40 yards too.
Gini - the fulcrum who hangs around 10 yards further than Fab, back to their goal, always available to take the ball and turn, or else drawing in a man and playing a simple pass back to Fabs feet to play a longer ball into the vacated space.
Henderson/Milner - The runner, all action player that harries off the ball, and pushes forward on the ball. Covers defensively for a fullback who's pushed on, and provides an option wide for a winger who's come inside.

Bang on. It takes some fortitude and restraint to play so reserved in that holding role in our system. He's been getting stick off many (including me) but he's a fantastic captain and pro.

Loved Firmino's performance tonight especially his clearing headers when we defended corners. I still think we're too nice in the tackling department but that's part of the Klopp plan I suppose. Hey, subs befor the 60min mark too!

It's another win and Mo has got the 50 PL goal monkey off his back with his best goal yet imo.

    Onwards we go. Loving it.

Our best midfield has to be Fabinho and Henderson ... and one other.
I've said it before but you don't get to be captain of Liverpool if you're not an outstanding player. I'm amazed to see, even now, that fans still don't see what he brings to the team. The guy is an unbelievable footballer with so much passion and energy for our club yet still keeps getting the put downs.
Would absolutely love to see him lift the league trophy in May to finally shut the haters up.

Him and Fabinho are great off the bench. Both make huge impacts from the bench when the other team are tired. Or you play both because they're at their best when someone is behind them and they can press. Henderson came on and we played a lot more aggressive with the press. Sadly some fans still can't see what Henderson brings to the team.
