Keep Keita away from the starting 11, he has done nothing to justify inclusion for such important games.

Honigstein was talking about him on the TFS podcast yesterday. He was kinda hinting at his health not being great and said Liverpool were confused by his form.

Jesus's, thought Keita was quite decent in the last few games he started.

Was quite surprised at his complete lack of starts since.

He got a run of five games at the end of Jan/start of Feb and has barely been seen since. There has to be something going on either medical or he isn't doing what Klopp wants from him, not good enough etc. Honigstein also brought up last year when he fainted in training for RB and that when he came off against Napoli, Liverpool said it was a back issue, that was not what was rumoured in the Italy though. He didn't say what was rumoured though.

If you Google "Naby Keita heart", dozens of stories pop up about it apparently being a heart issue. Club denied it and said it has his back.

He did have some sort of medical setback during the season at Leipzig after we signed him but before he joined, didn't he? And his form went totally off the boil there around then too, iir.

That said, I googled and can't find anything to back the above up so maybe I've remembered it all wrong.

If there was any issue with his heart there is not a chance he would be near a match day squad.

He makes the bench week in week out.

Keep Keita away from the starting 11, he has done nothing to justify inclusion for such important games. Gini, Fab, Milner, Lallana and Hendo all deserve starting places over him based on performances this season.

He's done nothing in previous performances is right, but it could be his time to shine. With Millie and Hendo needed fresh for Tuesday and Gini looking a bit tired of late, we need squad players like himself or Lallana to step up now. Just depends if Naby is showing it in training I suppose.

I reckon we'll bounce off these tonight.

Hadn't heard about the heart before, could explain his lack of game time alright. Just to clarify, I'm not anti-Keita, was as excited as anyone about his arrival, he looked different class in Germany. And foreign player coming to a new league etc., he absolutely still deserves time to prove he can cut it. He's been below average for most of his time here though, there's no denying it, he just hasn't really done anything. We need more than that for the run-in.

    This tbh.

I'm struggling to think of anything haleart related that'd be mild enough to still include him on the bench for insurance reasons.

I know it sounds stupid when you consider where liverpool are at this season but is anyone else worried about Klopps apparent lack of adaptability in games? The spurs game was a good example, Poc obviously copped onto what was happening and changed it and suddenly spurs started bossing the game. Klopp never seems to proactively change the way the team are playing - kind of like if plan A doesnt work just keep doing plan A kind of thing.

I dont mean to be over critical and i love Klopp but its something that bugs me (i'm sure he'll be devastated).

    Am i over thinking this?

Love Klopp myself but feel that in-game management is his achilles heel. Last Sunday he obviously knew that Poch had changed formation but he doesn't react to it quick enough, even when our midfield is getting run over and Spurs were getting into the box at ease. It was the same in the EL final vs Seville, Emery changed shape at half time, Klopp didn't react and we got outplayed and lost 3-1.

Keita loves to run with ball, take a chance, link with front 3, go beyond front 3, and make runs into box, and maybe all of those things are the problem, maybe it's not what Klopp wants. But it looks good to me, as it's everything we're missing.

Anyone able to recommend a bar in Cork city that will be showing tonight's game? Didn't realise that there was a Munster match on and a few places seem to be showing that instead.

Woolshed will definitely have it. It's a bit naff but it'll be on.
It's in the same building as the Mardyke, just off Washington street.

I get what you're saying but this is our 33rd game and they don't play their 33rd game until the same day as we play our 34th game!

So we aren't really playing after them and its been like that for the last couple of weeks.

just win our games its all we can do , can't be arsed with what they do unless they fúck up.

But Klopp knew all that before he bought him and I would assume they are the exact reasons he did.

Shaqiri was on the bench week in week out too but didn't go on international break due to injury and came back to sit on the bench again.

In fairness if we beat Porto and have the semi final on the Tuesday we'd see this game likely pushed back to Saturday. Not sure about City but this isn't set in stone yet

Liverpool’s teamsheet confirms two changes this evening as Fabinho and Naby Keita come into midfield in place of Jordan Henderson and James Milner, who are both on the bench.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita, Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Mignolet, Lovren, Milner, Henderson, Moreno, Shaqiri, Origi.

    .

I was going to say if there is any worry no matter how small with VVD ankle I'd leave him out tonight in case he made it worse and missed a few games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,645 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Prove me wrong please Naby :o wasn't expecting that midfield, 3-0 Pool incoming.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,805 ✭✭✭✭8-10

    Keïta ahead of Lallana eh?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,170 ✭✭✭messinkiapina

Is Lallana injured AGAIN? Christ, he's a good player but he'll never stay fit long enough to show it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

Happy with that team, 0-3 Liverpool. Mo back in the goals with two.

I'd like to see Keita, Fabinho, and Wijnaldum start tonight, but I doubt that will be it.

I'd say it'll be Milner, Lallana, Fabinho, with the other 8 as expected. If Klopp really wants to boil Southampton piss he'll play Lovren with van Dijk. I'm not sure there would be enough boos on the south coast to go around.

Jurgen listening to me, good man.

Would be nice for Keita to get his first goal for us tonight.
