Was thinking the same but the other side of the logic is that, given the other results, any sort of result for them puts more daylight between them and relegation. I expect them to go all out.

i feel if we get the first goal there players will think "oh well " plenty of winnable games to come ,
If they get the first goal the will think lets get this done and secure safety

First goal is HUGE or even how we start the game , Do not give them encouragement

I've been taken to the cleaners on that sort of shyte a couple of times whilst playing roulette online:mad:

I now never touch online roulette because of that, It has to be fixed:p

It happens on a daily basis with real wheels too.

The odds of BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB coming up is exactly the same as BRBBBBRBBBBBBBBBRBBBBBBBBBRBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB coming up.

I really don't think professional footballers will think in the middle of a game about the next matchno matter what the score is.

Should practice shooting, could do with more strikes on goal from outside the box.

How could the odds be the exact same?

The odds of any exact sequence of a particular length is the same as the odds of another different exact sequence of the sane length.

One might look more plausible than the other, but the odds are the same.

    Why?

You're not hitting the target when the ball strikes the bar:D

Because the odds on every single spin are exactly the same. So if you're predicting any sequence at all, beit BBBBB or BRBRB, the maths are the same. For every unique spin, it's utterly irrelevant to the odds whether the previous spin was an R or a B. The odds get higher based on the number of predictions you're making rather than what the sequence itself is.

Is that because the odds are based only on a single spin of the wheel?

I don't get this, obviously the chances of hitting even 5 reds in row is lower than hitting 4 reds and 1 black.

Not if you're actually picking which 4 reds and 1 black.

Predicting RRRRR is exactly the same odds as predicting RRBRR.

Each selection is always 50/50 (ignoring the 'house' plate for simplicity), and the wheel has no memory. So on the 5th, or 10th, or millionth spin it's totally irrelevent what sequence came before, it's still always 50/50 for each selection.

    No, same odds.
18 red slots, 18 black slots, 1 green( 2 green in the States)
Odds of it being red are 18/37.
Odd of it being black are 18/37
It doesn't matter if it lands Red or Black, the next spin will gave the exact same odds, each and every time.

Yes but the original point was about seeing so many balls of the same colour dropping in a row. The way I was caught was something like 9 or 10 so I then start increasing by bet each spin, thinking that the opposite colour was bound to fall and after nearly 20 spins I was cleared out.

Think I'll just stay well clear of any roulette tables.

ha, yeah, that's the logical fallacy of it all. It just feels like it should be more likely for the next one to be a different colour after a run of results - but in actuality, it's still always equal odds every spin for it to be either colour, regardless of sequence.

Back to the football, and i'm honestly worried about tomorrow. Still not terribly confident in our away form, and Southampton have taken points off Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Spurs already this season, mostly of those while at home.

We should win of course, but between their home form, and our away form, it's not a given. I'll feel a lot better about things if we can get this one in the bag.

What happened Ings after his great start to the season?

Did he get another bad injury?

Not quite bad I think, but he missed games a bit on and off earlier in the season, and then missed the bones of 2 months recently. Came back in their last game I think though. I presume he can't play against us though, since it's technically a one-year loan before they're obligated to buy at season's end, right?

Ye pretty sure he can't play against us because of the loan deal.

The lad really can't catch a break with injures.

you're betting on five distinct instances. For all five to occur correctly is the same as an accumulator. Any individual instance is 18/37

Didn't know that Ralph Hassenhuttel and Klopp did their UEFA coaching badges together, they go back years. Very similar footballing philosophies too so I'm expecting an open game tonight.

If the bolded piece was actual fact then there wouldn't be a casino in the world as they'd go bust after a few hours :)

So anyone guess the team tonight?

I'm thinking it'll be the usual back 5. Then Fabby and Lalana in the middle (not sure who the third will be but most likely Henderson). And then the usual three up front.

What I'd like to see is maybe Fabby and Gini deep with Mane, Bobby, original in front and the Mo up top.

I'd go with that - Fab, Hendo and Lallana in the middle and the rest as usual.

Would love Gomez and Ox on the bench but I won't be too greedy.

I have half a nagging feeling that Origi will start. Based on absolutely nothing.
