    As title says.
I was out all day, when I came back there was docket in the door, for oil worth 210€.
I was very confused. I didn't order any oil. When checked over it was wrong adress. Next door neighbours one. And their name and all. Went over to them this evening. They where waiting for delivery today and it never came. My house has huge nummber sign on just by the door!!!
So anyway now I have their oil in my tank? How do I give it back to them?
Before anyone says just pay for the oil. I cant I'm really stuck as is without forking 210 € for oil I didn't order...

Call them up and tell them they delivered to the wrong place. They should be able to suck the oil back out of your tank and if they cant its their problem

just ring company and tell them ,you wont have to pay for it,it was there fault, just see what they want to do.

It's not up to you to resolve. It's between your neighbors and the oil company.

Simply explain situation to oil people!?

    It is not your fault.

You could offer to pay for the oil when you would have ordered next?

How did the company access your tank?

I reckon next door will be billed anyway if they ordered with a card over the phone. Strange that next door didn't notice a big oil tanker on the road with the logo of the company they were waiting for all day.

they'll have a suction kit to take it back out, not a huge deal just ring them tomorrow and tell them

Oh thanks. I'm panicking over here as usual. Anywho. I allready had oil in my tank. So will they be able to take out exatct amount out. I. Don't want to see neighbour stuck either and me taking some of his oil.
I'm just so curious, how did that mistake happen nummber just by the door size of a4 sheet.
    So weird.

Did you check levels in your tank? Maybe the docket was put through the wrong letterbox and the neighbours have all their oil lol.

Sorry for being lighthearted, but I am sure it can be sorted.

Didn't check mine but neighbour hasn't gotten his oil. So presume its in mine. Got home with toddler late allready wouldn't be able to see anything anyway.

Happened me before. I had only moved into the house, I was renting, and thought the LL had fired some oil in for us as a "welcome to your new home" type thing. The next day I looked out the window and the tanker was back, sucking the oil back out :(

Let your neighbour call the company, they'll suck it out and put it in the neighbours tank. I'd be asking for before and after receipts though, they should only take what they put in obviously...

Mistakes happen because mistakes happen, that's how most women get pregnant, they'll be able take out exactly what they put in

Well, still on a lighthearted note, neighbour would say that :P

Don't worry, give the company a call first thing tomorrow, and it will be sorted out I am sure.

€210 of oil? Maybe it’s time to open a chip shop OP

You're lucky on such a cold evening, warm yourself up and let the trespassers worry about it.

Not really your problem now, and on such a cold week consider it a bonus :D

This is not the worst wrong oil delivery. About half a century ago when I was in high school, a friend of mine had an oil delivery at their house with an address like 101 Main Street in the town. Problem was, it was supposed to go to 101 Main Street in the next town over, and the people at the wrong address had changed their heating source to natural gas a few years previously but the intake valves were still there. So the oil went into their basement and the house was uninhabitable for about a year after that.

This happened my Mam a couple of years ago. She didn't know she'd been given oil by mistake until the driver knocked on the door a few days later all apologies. She had to give her permission for them to come and take it back, and they left her a few bob worth of oil for the inconvenience.

    1. Buy a lock and lock your tank.
    2. Tell your neighbours to ring oil company and advise them that they never received their oil delivery.

    Go and have a beer.

Don't see what all the fuss is about.
Lots of times my deliveries are left with the neighbours if I'm out...

Offer to sell the oil to the company.

Well As a pp said, it ain't just Amazon or the likes who expect neighbours to take in deliveries.

It will be fine. Bet you will get a few litres for yourself for the inconvenience. Sht happens.

But maybe the tanker driver used to work for Fastway and hasn't really got into the new job yet.

The immersion doesn't work off the oil :pac:

You better hope that your on the same type of oil. I believe there's 2 types Kerosene and another one. If they have put the wrong one in your tank then it is a big issue for the company. Don't think it would hurt your boiler but it would burn less efficiently.
Someone who is more into plumbing might explain it better
