Nah I think City will stay ahead 'til the end, but what a ride and the fact that it's still not over is great. Liverpool are just so good right now. Good times.

How amazing would it be if it goes to the last day and City draw and we win and win it ,

No verdict reached by jury in Duckenfield trial, up to CPS whether they go again.
Hillsborough safety officer guilty of breach of safety duty.

What scale are we using for amazing-ness? Numeric, alphabetical or both? I'd give it a 100Z if both, that'd be 100Z on the amazing scale

Just stop worrying about it lads. If we win the league, brilliant. If not, it's been a excellent season and we'll be there abouts next season again and the experience we've gained this year win be a benefit to the team.

Yessir, what an exciting time to be a Liverpool fan it has been over the last 13 months. We're back to where we were under Rafa, except we now have a much better structure and platform underpinning the operation of the club. There were times where it was hard to see us ever getting this far. If we build our platform year after year, we'll consistently get to April in the mix. Then it just comes down to variance, you'll eventually get the couple of bounces and your opponents will falter.

    It's a process, and it's going beautifully.

Do you think Liverpool will win the league this year looking at both teams remaining fixtures?
The pessimist in me thinks not.

No I think City will win the league. We have a chance for sure as nobody saw them losing against Palace and Newcastle before, but we'd have to win all our remaining games and hope they slip up somewhere so I think it's going to be a step too far.

Just going to enjoy the ride, and hopefully we win our CL tie also

I would prefer to have to go to the Etiad and win than the position we are in now. Of course we have a chance but have to be near perfect and hope City slip up.

Actually if we end up on the same points, Goal difference and goals scored it would probably be a one off winner takes all game. There'd be lots of talk of bottles that week.

Does goal difference not count anymore?

If Liverpool draw a game & City lose 1. We’ll both be on the same points

After tonight's game City only have 2 home games left in the league ,the rest are away, and the two at home are Spurs and Leicester. It's a help, we all know they tend to win all their home games, it's a bonus they spend last 3 weeks of season away from home mostly, 3 of last 4 away.

I think our best chance is if we draw City in the CL and beat them so bad it utterly demoralises them.

The usual warnings still apply about discussing this on social media so probably shouldn't mention it on this thread as it's potentially open to retrial.

That can only happen in the final which is after the season ends.

Chelsea is the big one. If Liverpool can win this and stay 1 point behind City with same games played then I think Liverpool will win it.

City will have to play Spurs & Utd after this along with Burnley & Brighton away and this is where I can see them dropping points. We need Cardiff to stay in the relegation fight so hopefully they beat Burnley the weekend

Southampton is the big one. Next game, one at a time. Keep winning and it will work out okay. Beat Southampton, get ready for Porto only once Friday is over. One step at a time.

Yes City have tough fixtures left. They’ll drop points.

I don’t get this view that it’s been a good ride & we’ll be there again next season. I don’t think we will be. Our squad is so thin and players have given absolutely everything physically & mentally this year that a repeat of next year will be too much.

City play a different way, have rotated so much and have so many options that there isn’t a massive burden on most players

If Liverpool win on Friday and also beat Chelsea they will be at least 2 points ahead of Man City, as they will have still played a game more.

not on my list of games that I am hopeful of.

Burnley & United are my two that something is possible. No others in my opinion, unfortunately.

If you can't enjoy seasons like this I don't know what to say.

I absolutely think we'll be a good team next year. This is poles apart from the 2014/15 season after finishing 2nd. We're much much better equipped this time.

You could have made this same argument after losing in the CL final last year, but instead of falling apart we've just improved. In fact we've improved demonstrably year on year since Klopp's arrival.

This year we're setup in a way that if our attack isn't firing on all cylinders and pressing from the front, we can still win games.

Last year we found it a lot harder if we didn't come out of the traps and essentially blow teams away. The altered approach is paying dividends and its why I am slightly more optimistic about the squad's ability to get results against the likes of Southampton away, even if the front 3 are a bit leggy or off form.

We're a far more solid and formidable team.

Would be so ironic if we end up winning the double. We have a very good chance of both considering CL draw.

this is Alanis Morissette levels of butchering the word 'ironic'.

I don't know but he could mean ironic as its City Quadruple that's only been spoken of in the press ,

No it’s Cos City are going for the quadruple, which is fair, because they’re the only team going for something that has never been done.

If we win the Premier League then that dream is over & the narrative shifts to can ‘Liverpool do the double’ provided we’re still in the competition

Just to revert to yesterdays discussion about the best new signings of the season, that's the Guardian's picks.

Can certainly make arguments against the WhoScored methodology, stats obsession, etc but just thought some on here might be interested after the conversation yesterday!

Only issues I have with that is GK and CB for worse teams normally find it easier to impress,

GK for instance are always busy and always switched on ,CB have people close ,full backs tucked in , 2 players in front and are left defending smaller spaces ,
That why a lot of defender's who do well for smaller clubs wouldn't be good at big clubs who push there full backs on and leave more space for the CB to defend in front and more importantly behind ,

For instance you'll find every goal we have let in has been inside the box (not one outside) ,its because we play an advanced game so goals we let in are form breaks , the win a ball and have less players between them and the goal so get the ball close to the net (see spurs goal Sunday)

So our keeper has fewer easy long shots to deal with most shots are from breaks or set pieces in the box,

Fabianski for instance didn't cut it at Arsenal and there expansive game at the time ,
