Car transporter recommendations

    Hi All,

Have purchased a car in the UK (Middlesborough) and need to get it home. Just spoke to NVD and cost has gone up since last year. They are now €400 plus VAT to their site in Baldonnel. I paid €250 plus VAT this time last year which was a bargain!

Anyone have any recommendations for someone that might do it for less?

Unlikely: every transporter is flat out with people trying to beat Brexit date, and ferry bookings for trucks are at a premium.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I used Eirtrans recently, a good bit cheaper than NVD but all transport firms swamped at the moment with the threat of having to have everything in by 12th April

Thanks for this. Just saw them online. Will call tomorrow. I'm not in a mad rush. I give no deal Brexit less than 10% chance. Maybe I'll be wrong, hopefully not!

I know people do this. I have zero interest in taking the time to do it though.

Out of interest did you buy it without seeing it in person?

Yep, asked them to send me a video. It's from a dealer so fairly comfortable with it. I've done it before twice with no issues.
