They aren't gourmet. It's a sandwich with a cooked filling.

Not so sure about that after seeing this...

There is somewhere very special for a burger.

    Not exactly local though...

    Fergburger, Queenstown, New Zealand

Just had this burger delivered. If anyone can guess the Dublin establishment that delivered it I'll get Just Eat to bring you one.

You have 20 mins (about enough time for me to eat it and let you know what I think of it - it's my first time ordering from them).

So where did it come from? It looks delicious

West Cork Burger Company and Bunsen are the best; having said that wouldn’t ever say no to a supermacs burger :-P

I'm a bit of a foodie (aka: I'm morbidly obese) and I've eaten burgers in many a place around Ireland. I think the most I ever paid for a burger was about €35-ish, and it was one of those curioisity things. I seen it, and just had to try it (I have no idea where I got it, but I know i was traveling along the west coast, so.. that probably doesn't narrow it down much).

At the end of the day, I really love the €1 EuroSaver burger from McDonald's. I love the thin piece of meat, and the way it being pre-packed for so long makes it all soft and moist. Muchos Delici-osos.

Of course everyone has their preferences, and there's a lot to be said for fancy sauces, etc. but I find a common ploy in a lot of burger places is to give you the same thing you'd get in McDonald's, with a slightly thicker cut, and then throw in some 2inch bread baps each side, and chuck a salad on top. Wallah, your burger now costs 10 times the price.

I like my food, but I do view 'gourmet' and fancy burger places in general quite cynically.

Son of a Bun in Cork is probably one of the best "gourmet" burger places I've visited. Throws a plethora of stuff into the burger, black pudding, nachos, different cheeses etc... but doesn't jump the shark like a lot of other burger places. good selection of beers, only trouble is getting a table.

For the no frills burger I find Bunsen on French church Street excellent and staff are on the ball. Felt the Bunsen staff off Grafton Street were trying to get rid of us before we had our fingers licked. If it's not fast food then I'd like to a few minutes to finish my drink and digest.

That place made headlines for all the wrong reasons, they also tried to claim they were the only place approved by the HSE to serve "pink" burgers.

Deffo falls into the overrated category.

They had a temporary closure order served on them a few years ago. Not a very encouraging sign.

They are still as busy as ever and make pretty nice burgers, I’ve only been there since they were closed.

The closure was because they served burgers medium and a few people got sick they cook all burgers fully since.

Unsure about being overrated but we ate in the Four Lanterns in Donegal Town yesterday evening and it was awful. I'd eat shoite off a stick but it was minging.

All the talk about top class burger here is gas, how may release what meat off the carcass goes into burgers to achieve colour and texture as it’s called in the trade and what else is added to fill it up.
If top quality meat is used the burgers are dry and a lot of people would complain that it is poor quality. If you want to taste a real burger go into any decent butchers shop and ask for sirloin steak and mince and place into burgers and bring home and cook and have what ever dressing you like.

I noticed this as well. What's the reason for it?

    Gender Studies graduates I'd say.

Pinhead's Pizza on the Sth Circular, it's the Rib Eye burger (only €6).

No idea if they really use rib eye for the meat but it tasted great.

This would have been up to about June 2018 as I was working nearby for a few months.

Strange that it closed, you'd think in the cities at least a chipper would never go out of business unless it was serving up dire food. Maybe poshos just dont do chippers, there certainly seems to be less of them about in better off areas.

In hindsight it was never particularly busy at lunchtime save for a few workers on lunch, most of them would be rammed with schoolkids on lunch.

Borza's was an institution and did very well for itself in Sandymount. Closed down due to family illness sadly.

If you like Chicken Burgers, I can't recommend too highly The Mad Egg, just off Camden St...

Full Chicken Breast in batter, with several different flavour sauces available.... Chips skinny, but with skin...

The menu is short, and is all chicken dishes... Amazing food, and great value.... Only cheesecake for dessert... Didn't have it for allergy reasons, but I believe it's fab...

It's basic, but what they do, they do VERY well... Quirky thing is rather than napkins, they put rolls of paper towel on the table!...

Like a previous poster, I too have a nut allergy, and they were really helpful and understanding...

    I loved it!...

    Darth...

    Wow. How mapcap!

I mean that's an 'ideal type' burger. Burgers are supposed to be no-nonsense handheld food not some theatrical faffing session.

Basically if the meat isn't pink inside cooked to medium, it's not worth eating. Burgers and steaks are the same.

I’d disagree. I like burgers more done than steaks. Gives more time to get that tasty, slightly charred outside too. I don’t like the texture of pink burgers and they tend to be a bit crumbly too.
Me ma used to be obsessed with that stuff years ago when her sister brought it over from Switzerland!

    Soooo fecking salty!

It isn’t saltier than actual salt though, which is 100% salt. Funnily enough.

Quite a difference to serving medium burgers.

    The mind boggles.

This trend towards 'fancy' burgers is annoying. Look, we've piled tonnes of crap in here so whilst it looks nice (in a heart attack way) you can't actually pick it up without it turning into slop never mind eating it and we'll charge you ridiculous prices for it.

that was so five years ago.

current trend is simple cheeseburger or at most with bacon.

pineapple truffle turdburgers went out with the demise of joburger.

They have refused to serve medium burgers since the incident despite it being one of their big advertising points before hand.
