I'm presuming we will be getting a Josh Duggar storyline this season?

Has Rollins had surgery/lip fillers. There's something off about her face and it's very distracting

That was a strong episode. All a build-up to Whoopi's lecture. But I've seen 40 minutes of drama wasted on less. When you're in your 17th season, the odd "this is how things are" episode doesn't go amiss.
And I loved the cheeky "institutional madness" sideswipe at the end "you won't need to interview him, he's my son". You don't need to travel to New York to be in a room with that nugget.

As it is renewed I would not mind seeing Kirk Acevedo's Detective Lopez stay on full time or better a Stabler return

Acevedo would be perfect to join the team. I know he was a main character in Law & Order: Trial By Jury and has been in SVU before as that character as well, but this is a new character and he's a good actor for the show. I wouldn't be surprised though if just to keep costs down that they just stick with the cast members they currently have as I'd say Mariska Hargitay (think I read somewhere she's the best paid actress in a Drama Series on Network TV at the moment) and Ice T especially are getting a fair amount per episode as they've been at it for so long.

I hope they move away from the soap opera feel the show has taken the last few years. Yes I'm happy that Olivia has a child but this used to be a really gritty show that would elicit a load of emotions in me. Now it's mostly meh. The last two episodes were really good though. I hope they return to that.

I have been saying this for the last few seasons but ever since Stabler (C Meloni) left its like The Olivia Benson Show. Its far too smooth these days and very predictable!

    I like Carisi

I wonder would any of the Chicago Justice characters end up on SVU

Carisi and Tutuola are my favourites, followed closely by Rollins. I'd gladly watch a season with those 3, Acevedo and bring Tamara Tunie back as Melinda Warner and I think it would be great. I know it'll never happen and if Mariska Hargitay leaves the show is probably over anyway, but I just feel Benson and Barba have become a bit stale, even though I still like them.

It used to have some brilliant moments. A stand out one for me was when Stabler had to visit a guy he had put in prison for rape and tell him that he knew he was innocent but the only person who could prove it had been killed and the guy would be staying in prison. It was so unjust and showed how the justice system can easily get it wrong and destroy a life.

Exactly!! One of my fave eps was S7 Ep 19 with Lou Diamond Philips where he kills a family and kidnaps the kids and ultimately kills them...its just not as gritty anymore. I now get my gritty fix from Chicago PD but even then its not great!!

Has anyone been watching it this season? It has gone downhill...it's now the Olivia Benson Show...the hammy music, the predictable storylines over and over...Gaaaaaaaaah

    I'm done with it...

    Bring back Stabler!!

Ya I agree. I've said it before that it's gone from a gritty show to basically a soap opera. I read that there were new producers this year so I thought it might go back to being gritty but alas, no. Even a good episode is overshadowed by personal crap stories.

Correct me if I'm wrong but does Olivia now hold the same position that Cregan did when she first started at SVU? Part of the grittiness was the tension between the detectives (Benson and Stabler) who wanted to go after a perp and their superior (Cregan) who had to play the political game. Cregan didn't have the time to do detective work and it seems unrealistic that Olivia would still be able to be as involved as she currently is while running a whole unit.

I hear you!! The whole Noah drama is annoying, it's probably time again for a gambling angle for Rollins to play out, Fins kid is due an appearance...

When I think of the good ole days I think of the episode from 2006 with Lou Diamond Phillips, Fault.

Yeah it's definitely far from the show it used to be unfortunately, but I still watch every week - by Season 19 I guess I'm just on board until the bitter end, but they need a big shake up; they should get rid of Benson and Barba and bring in a new Captain and ADA that can serve as antagonists for Fin, Rollins, and Carisi, as well as adding a new detective or two (one of whom being Kirk Acevedo) and bring back BD Wong or Tamara Tunie as recurring characters again.

I agree it is now the Benson show - and yeah, how is she protected from the political fall out Cregan had to deal with.

Haven't seen this weeks episode but it seems too clean now. Loved the days of Stabler and Benson bending the rules - haven't seen Rollins child in ages?

I still enjoy the ripped from the headlines episodes but ye the Olivia show which it has become is a total pain in the arse.

Carisi has really grown on me and I would love to see the show based around him.

Jack McCoy is back for a guest appearance.

Barba is in trouble and Philip Winchester looks like he is moving over from the cancelled Chicago Justice.

Stephanie March is returning for a guest appearance :)

Episode 12 was really good. Not sure how I feel about episode 13.
I'm not sold that Barba would throw away his career like that. I thought he was going to offer to be the court appointed whatever it was the mother was talking about.

Is Benson being put with Stone?

I didn't like Carisi when he arrived however he is now my favorite character on the show.

Philip Winchester won't be back next season so hopefully he will be on the final season of Strike Back.
