I think this is the fairest barometer of how big cricket is in those countries.

The total attendance figures over a season.

Indy Car (Motor racing) - 1,555,772
The Indian Premier League (Cricket) - 1,543,655
Indian Super League (Association football) - 1,477,033
Liga Venezolana de Beisbol (Baseball) - 1,275,317
Big Bash League (Cricket) - 1,053,997
Bangladesh Premier League (Cricket) - 742,000
Super GT (Motor racing) - 278,900

    List of sports attendance figures

Cricket is not doing too badly. But not exactly off the chart. Baseball in Venezuela does bigger numbers. 2 billion people does not translate into billions attending games anyway.
Totally disagree, a better metric is tv audience where international games can draw over a hundreds million viewers. You put England against India in the final of the upcoming world cup and you will have maybe half a billion people knowing exactly who Eoin Morgan is

Yeah Sports not TV stars why not include Michael Fassbender, Aidan Gillen and Cillian Murphy while your at it.

Becky Lynch (Rebecca Quin) is headlining Wrestlemania next week. That doesn't happen without her being one of the best female athletes ever, not just Irish. Yes its scripted and creatively produced, but don't ever think a long Wrestlemania headline match is anything but an athletic demand of the highest order.

Wow. Hadn't heard that before. That's impressive. Don't know much about WWE but i know enough to know its a huge achievement.
Would still exclude her on a technicality though. They call it sport entertainment so who am I to argue...

Are you having a laugh? Wrestlemania? HAHAHAHA!!!

There's so much wrong with your statement I don't know where to start.

How do you think Mayweather would get on in an MMA fight in a cage with McGregor?

    It sure as f*ck wouldn't go 11 rounds!:pac:

    That’s like three events tho.

Pro wrestling is a difficult one to define as it's both sports and pure entertainment. Fox network recently signed WWE to a deal on a sports platform so Major league baseball will air primetime (8-10pm) on Wednesday, NFL on Thursday and WWE on Friday

Headlining Wrestlemania at MetLife stadium in New York is big deal. It was Dwayne Johnson and John Cena who headlined the last MetLife show in 2013.

Also I doubt ESPN would be interested in the exploits of Murphy, Gillen etc on film

Whatever about most famous - Ronan O'Gara was/is Ireland's greatest sports star by a country mile.

Half the planet hardly know what rugby is never mind naming an Irish player, no matter how talented!

Yep and not a bit of athleticism in their bodies. You've already proven yourself completely clueless today, let it rest.

They are juiced up to the gills mainly. Which is why they never make it in genuine sports.

Doesnt make it a sport, though, even if it is physically demanding. War isnt a sport either at the other extreme. Or being a world class dancer.

McGregor is known for being a scumbag and ending in court rather than for his sporting ability. This sort of trash notoriety doesn’t count, he’s Ireland’s biggest scumbag, how many people worldwide have seen him perform ?? **** all I recon because most people have an ounce of class and decency.

From an international perspective I recon golfers or maybe rugby players would have wide recognition for their sporting abilities.

I'm fully aware of who she is and what she is doing and fair play to her she's cool an all but the "competing" is purely dramatic and unrelatable from actual competition in an actual sport.

Only in a small number of European countries. Too much of a niche sport.
For longevity maybe as he is still talked about in non Irish cycling community.
Probably the most famous within an established sport.

-Kurt Angle is an Olympic gold medalist.

-Mark Henry was legitimately the world's strongest man.

-Current WWE Woomen's champion Ronda Rousey is a former UFC Womens Champion and an Olympic medalist in judo.

-Brock Lesnar was a 2 time NCAA wrestling champion as well as UFC Heavyweight Champion.

That's off the top of my head.

You've shown your ignorance on here already. Keep it up though.

It's what the term manchild was invented for. Fair enough someone watching it like a soap opera, but actually thinking it's a sport? That's just never growing up.

Most of them juiced to their gills

Sadly lot of them die way too young due to chronic steroid abuse. Awful carry on.

If I had my way the wwf would be confined to traveling circus tents -all they are good for

He won gold in 1996. Good luck winning in 2020 in his 50s.

I'd say a lot of people in this country would struggle to tell you who he is, I just had to Google him myself!!

I guess he was before my time.

You have any comment on Kurt Angle being an Olympic Gold Medalist, no? Or Mark Henry being the world's strongest man? Or Ronda Rousey being an Olympic medalist and UFC Women's champion? Why did you ignore all of that?

Also, it hasn't been called WWF in close to 20 years. Educate yourself.
