I have a feeling if he plays the required number of games he won't.

I'll never get over Moreno's performance in the Europa Final v Sevilla.

I can't remember if it was before or after the Seville final but my road to Damascus moment with him was the Norwich penalty.

Sevilla targeted him in that game and seen that as a week spot, that rattled him even more.

Reading back over my Moreno comments from five years ago... i didn't rate him from the start....and my opinion has only worsened in the intervening years. :P

Actually enjoyed the weekend with there being no game on. Watching the games feels like being in a 90 minute headlock with the grip fastening the longer it goes on!

He was never good enough and probably commanded far more debate on this thread over the years than was warranted. Players like him leaving are a strong indication of the success of our transfer policy and the progression of the squad under the current regime.

Will we see a final farewell to Alberto ?

    Yes Robbo is suspended ,
I hope Moreno plays before Milner,

If you were to pick the XI of the worst Liverpool players then Moreno would be nailed on for LB. While I’m at it Karius is GK and Voronin if CF. Who else would make the team?

Milner every day of the week for me. Moreno into such a game after how many minutes he has played this season??

Any chance that Gomez could be back?

None of our back up LB options are ideal really.

I'd say we will see Gomez & Ox to be on the bench for the Spurs game.

I think I'd prefer Moreno over Konchesky at LB but we've had some awful players and you'd likely find worse than both of those. The last few years of Evans' reign as manager is as far back as I can remember but under Houllier we made some mad signings that make Lazar Markovic's Liverpool career look successful.

But for Porto Milner or Gomez will be LB.

I am loathe to remind you that Paul Konchesky played left back for Liverpool. Don't waste your precious time on compiling an all-time worst LFC team, it will only bring back too much sorrow ahead of the Ireland match later.

    Karius

    Moreno
    Kvarne
    Piechnik
    Konchesky

    Nunez
    Cole
    Stewart
    Diomede

    Meijer
    Lambert

Sure, maybe instead of Lambert. Plenty of bad signings over the years to choose from!!

Said it before, but will never forget the goal Moreno got against Spurs, his third game for us I think, where he ran the length of the wing and then scored a worldie from the corner of the box, punching the air in the pub and shouting fcuk me!, wondering what kind of a wonder we'd bought. Then is just became a case of punching the couch, still shouting fcuk me, just for completely different reasons. Anyway, apparently he's a good guy and is well liked within the team, so no hard feelings, good luck, just be gone...

Moreno isn't eve near our worst 11 in Prem years,

People really go over the top about how bad he is,

    Dossena
    Kromkamp
    Josemi
    Degen
    Konchesky
    Heggem
    Insua

    Add Traore

There is 8 worse full backs of the top of my head, there must be more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,428 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

there's a reason we joke about Djimi Traore having a CL winners medal. The lad was awful not even taking into account his hilarious own goal. In the CL final the first thing he did was give way a stupid free kick that led to Milan's opener.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭Nerdlingr

Dossena scored against united and Real in the same week. Dont see moreno doin' that!!! #legend :p:p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,642 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

    Ah Insua,

Don't forget Aquilani, constantly injured. Constantly underwhelming.

I have a soft spot for Insua and Dossena for the wondergoals they scored against Arsenal and Utd respectively.

Jovanovic, Poulsen, Konchesky, Cole all from the Hodgson era I believe absolutely stank the place out.

My memory is getting hazy and it was a good while ago when games weren't quite as easy to access but I see Heggem mentioned above I had him down as being decent enough, but I could be wrong!

Edit : P.S not interested in the Jovanovic neighbours clip being wheeled out again.

Nunez is one of the most apathetic players I've ever seen put on a Liverpool jersey. The fact that he was in a swap deal with Owen was further salt to the wounds.

Joe Cole waddled around the pitch in a manner that infuriated me, long after his talent had subsided.

I was going to say that it was a bit harsh on Lambert considering Sean Dundee was there to choose from!

Insua wasn't a bad player imo. He was also a kid during his time at Liverpool.

Think Karius would be the only one of the 3 for worst player those positions. Padelli was my previous worst keeper after just one start in which he was truly embarrassing - but there’s just no competing with a CL explosion.

Wouldn’t have Voronin anywhere near our worst CF’s. Wasn’t great, but was grand as 3rd or 4th choice.

Moreno is a poor player, but we’ve had much worse at LB. what makes Moreno more annoying is that he actually has the tools and the ability, just not the head. We’ve had plenty of fullbacks with none of those things. As a bit part guy, I hated seeing Jack Robinson on the team sheet... just seemed to offer nothing in any way. Poor defender, poor attacker. For first choice ones, has to be Konchesky though, for everything his signing meant. The drop in status, the swapping of two of our better youths in exchange, his Mom, and the fact he was absolutely rubbish.
