    Alan "I love power" Kelly

What on earth is this obsession with Alan Kelly? It is a mantra that has been spread by his opponents because they fear him, in particular the fact that he has been one of the most effective Dail committee members in probing questionable dealings. Trust boardsies to swallow the propaganda. Every politician seeks power for goodness' sake. There is no point otherwise in being in politics.
This thread is about chancers, people of allegedly questionable ethics. Please substantiate where Alan Kelly is concerned.

    Jim "Soft Landing" Power.

Also, radio news hacks who still interviewed him after the crash to get his expertise on what should be done...

I seem to recall when he was housing minister and he said the flat pack council houses would cost x amount of money. They went wildly over budget per unit and he merely said he was upset to see it happen.

A few weeks ago he had the brass balls to chastise Simon Harris on the hospital overrun.

Harris certainly needs a bollocking for it, but not off this hypocritical absolute spoofer.

    Joe Duffy.

I know there's multiple politicians and cute-hoor business people that have done the country more damage in reality, but, fck me, Joe Duffy gets away with a lot.

He's a bad radio presenter, frequently in the wrong on his show, rude, boorish, shameless. He'll milk any tragedy for radio tears and fake sentimentality. And, worst of all, despite his huge salary - and his roughly ten hour working week, is absent a truly incredible amount of times. He blatantly takes the piss with that. He's a joke!

    You cant say that.:) :)

They are great for the local people who elected them. Sometimes I wished I lived in Kerry as least they care about the people who support them. ( only sometimes ).

In some ways I admire them as they get voted in without fail every time and they annoy the D4 elite, but the self-interested, nothing-exists-outside-of-Kerry, populist, cute hoor, cow dung spreading shyte sticks in my craw.

To be fair Healy Rae is the only worker on the OP 's list.

Not being funny but is he still alive? I’m convinced R.T.E. will embalm him and have him presenting a new show (“Weekend at Bernie’s” style).

He’s an absolute chancer. He was shown to be clueless as a minister, so much so that he couldn’t even get a broken party like Labour to elect him as their leader - doesn’t sound like a serious political operator to me. It’s easy to look good in opposition, much harder to do the business when in power. He also has close links with that champion of chancers, John Delaney

think Austin Hughes (KBC Bank) is far worse...he was actively talking up the property market in 20017 & 2008 as it crashed to a bottomless pit. Never have I seen someone with blatant vested interests ignore what what was blatantly obvious to the dogs on the street. Yet RTE will still roll him out as an economist who's opinion we are to respect. Shows lack of research and sheer laziness at the hands of RTE. Austin Hughes should be recognised for the fraud that he is and consigned to the dole heap.

Absolutely. Chalk and cheese. Kerrigan probably actually believes what he spouts as well. But he’s a chancer in the sense than he has been writing the same article for the past 40 years - this happened last week, this is the fault of capitalism and the elite, far-left socialism is the alternative.

He never has anything positive, workable,or nuanced to say. It’s student politics packaged as journalism. All the problems and none of the solutions. The political thinking of the lazy.

It's the job of journalists to point out problems. It's the job of politicians to come up with the solutions. If he's been writing the same article for 40 years then maybe its time the politicians gave him some different material. As for something positive, the government isn't short of happy-clappy fanboys as it is.

I don't agree with everything he says, but he's good at pointing out cant and BS. Someone needs to.

Experiment: Read his piece in today's Indo https://www.independent.ie/opinion/columnists/gene-kerrigan/gene-kerrigan-this-is-too-serious-for-conspiracy-theories-37945108.html ... feel free to point out where he's wrong.

That is the most facile post in this thread. Her family home was bombed and she worked ceaselessly for reconciliation in the North. But wait, maybe it's not facile. Maybe you just don't understand the concept of building bridges.

I'm assuming they're joking but as expected people are just listing folk they don't like/are members of the party they don't vote for.

Imagine saying Leo Varadkar is worse than Haughey or Ahern and not being embarrassed.
