I very rarely if ever tip in restaurants (except in the US), as I said why should I? I pay for my food and the staff are paid to do a job, I’ve never gotten a tip for doing my job so why should I tip others for doing the same.

I’ve had plenty of debates/arguments with friends etc over this and I will even refuse to contribute to a combined tip and will take all my change back out of the center of the table. I will make the exact same argument to as I make here, I’m not tipped to do my job, they are paid to do their job why the hell should I spend more than I already have to to pay for my food which is priced in order to cover staff wages.

Oh, that’s fine. But you are thought of as a massive stinge by some your friends right now, especially if you make a song and dance about not contributing to tips.
In sit down restaurants in the us you have no choice but to tip but lots of burger places etc you don’t have to tip so I eat in these quite a bit to avoid the nonsense of tipping.

    Christ on a bike.

If I ever become that miserly, at that point I’d like someone to drag a sharp implement across my throat and put me out of my misery.

That's hilarious. I've never ever seen this happen and I dine out with groups frequently. Any more tip payment avoiding stories? Did you leave a gratuity at your wedding for the staff?

35 euro every 6 - 8 weeks on a wash, cut and blow dry, I get my hair tidied up every couple of weeks to get rid of split ends.

I pay around the same, €30-€35. My hair is quite long (half-way down my back) and while it grows fast, I usually get a fair amount of mileage from a wash-cut-blowdry, so go around 3-4 times a year (to eliminate split ends and upkeep layers). I’ve never coloured my hair..... as of yet anyways.

Bit of a weird question directed towards the posters who get bonded extensions - what do they ‘feel’ like in your hair? I have always been curious as to whether they feel really heavy on your head, particularly after a shower....I love watching videos on YouTube when clients get them done; the added hair length can be really transformative

I’ve honestly never heard of anyone doing this ever, surely it’s not a thing? So, no we didn’t as the idea didn’t even enter our heads. It cost well enough without having to pay out more in a tip.

I was just going to ask if that was a thing. I’ve certainly never heard of it. And I’m saying that as someone who tips.

A disgusting amount. €120 every 9-12 weeks on highlights and olaplex treatments.

Anything from €500 to €700 twice a year on extensions, which I only had applied last year as a once off and now I feel I won’t be able to be without them.

I also spend a ridiculous amount on high end shampoos and treatments and styling products. What can I say, I like having nice hurrr even if most of it ain’t my own

I stopped colouring my hair years ago because it was totally dried out.
So now I just get a cut and blow dry every 2 months.
    I'm quite low maintenance!
I'm lucky in that I have no grey hair that needs covering and my natural colour actually has a few natural highlights going through it.
My cut and blowdry used be between 35e and 40e but last week, I was charged 42e.
I went to the sane place I have been going to for a few years expecting the nice young girl to do my hair.
Unfortunately I found out she had left.
I had my hair washed by a woman who was talking over my head to another customer at the basin about the details of someone who was due to die last week.
Then the wan who cut my hair was so rough, running the comb viciously thorough my hair hurting my scalp and ears and everytime she used the scissors it was a swift chop.
I felt like I was on a conveyor belt, and she was just rushing me out of the chair for her next victim.
    They won't see me again.
    Left no tip either.

What is the appeal of extensions? Are they basically give more length if your hair takes ages to grow?

I have mine more for thickness than length. My hair would be quite long naturally but lacking in thickness esp at the sides, prob from years of getting highlights! I was always a bit “ick, stennos, fake hair, gross” before getting them but I have to say I adore the ones I have. They’re really natural looking and just make such a difference. It’s a pity they cost a fortune.
