    That,s right (or no diverter valve) but I'm talking about a conventional combi boiler like the one (Baxi) above that states it has this integral by pass?

    Hi John, its a small bore pipe between flow/return with a spring loaded bypass valve (so would only open when the pump is running but the system flow is blocked (by a closed motorised valve) and is designed to accommodate pump over-run.

    It is however always recommended to install a system bypass and auto-bypass valve external to the appliance.
