He even pays lower rate VAT on his cake when he stops.

Most cyclists, especially the MAMIL variety look like they're fond of the cake alright.

When the weather improves we'll be treated to the sight of hundreds of them, straining through their disgusting lycra and maliciously blocking roads.

You’re dead right. Starting to sweat a bit too much in the winter gear now. Can’t wait to shed the arm and leg warmers and get into shorts and fingerless gloves. Where do you drive? We’ll form a 25km/hr peloton so you can get a good gawk at us.

A friend of my mine witnessed this. She told me herself. Some places you can't even get off the bus anymore, the pavement is chocca with abandoned free houses. Apparently, they spend all the free grant money for doing up a free house on free drugs . Then just go and get another free house, get the grant money and drop that house at the bus stop and on to the next free house ...

It's getting so bad a FB friend of mine has set up a rescue for all these stray houses.

Hundreds of thousands struggling , big hit to their standard of living to pay for the legions of wasters in this country.

interesting. i thought the money we pay that is called tax goes on a lot of different things? as for these legions of wasters, where are they as i haven't come across very many wasters in my life time. no doubt there are some, of course there are, but legions of them? if there were genuinely such then we would be engaging with them on a minute by minute basis every time we go out the door. as for us taking a hit for these mythical legions of wasters, you do realize don't you that even if they didn't exist we would still be paying the same rates of tax?

Free rent , medical card , free few hundred a week etc ...

there is no free rent. rent allowance i believe does not cover the full rent. some working people i believe are also entitled to a medical card if they mete the criteria. the couple of hundred one may get if they meet the criteria and then most probably don't even get that on wellfare, is for general living expences. only if one has children may they get more but it's certainly not a profitible way of living for those in reseat and the money is for the children.
    Idbatterim wrote: »
go watch skint Britain to see how their “welfare state” is run.

and yet people over there are still ranting about the wellfare state as well. people everywhere rant about the wellfare state, until they actually have to use it. in fact, technically, even when working, they are benefiting from parts of the wellfare state. children's allowance, hospitals, schools, roads, etc.

Then you have that spineless snake varadkar jacking up welfare the last few budgets, to the tune of more euro than a worker on 30 odd thousand received in a usc cut. At a time of full employment as fg keep telling us ...

do you seriously think most people on wellfare are getting anything near 30 grand? not a chance. about 10 perhapse if they are lucky.

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

I bet they dont even have a bell.
They get dumped at bus stops and used as door bells on abandoned free houses

I hope it doesn't end up like the free buggy sanctuary.

If you leave your free buggy at the bus stop they'll put it down after a week if no one comes to claim it.

Suppose it's better than packs of free houses and free buggies roaming the streets, attacking people. But still.

You wouldn’t believe the amount of free holidays I’ve had from insurance claims from motorists. Worked out about 3 per year over the last while. Some muppets for paying insurance. Lol

No,I'll probably be in work when the purple-puss brigade are weaving their wobbly way around the roads.

Having said that,I did, completely by accident send a cyclist flying into a hedge up by glendalough. The fat fool took a corner on the wrong side of the road and clipped my Saab on the front.
The wail out of him as he went airborne was a sound that will stay with me for a long time..a sort of high-pitched,women's shriek peppered with swear words.

Of course he insisted he pay for the damage to my paintwork and it was for this reason that I abstained from giving the craven lump a few kicks up his bloated behind.

We get 2 extra weeks stautory holidays to cycle per annum. Paid for from “road tax” as well. That on top of tax free bikes makes it a great hobby to take up.

How do you find the Saab for spares these days? Heard a lot of the vectra parts are compatible. Pretty handy in fairness. GM know their stuff:

Here in my local and the council houses gang are in. Taking about government grants, upgrades etc and there's around seven of them here.

Here's me earning 40k a year, working 45 hours a week and paying 1100 a month and there talking about improving their free houses Nd what grants are available

I'm going to have to fuvking leave. ****ing hell like, went out for a fag to calm myself down even though I haven't smoked in years

    Just **** off

I have worked and paid taxes for over thirty years so far. I took a leave of absence to raise my child as a single parent and to be a full time carer for my terminally ill parents. My Mam eventually got her stairlift after a lot of fighting. She got to use it four times before she died. Me and my siblings (who are also taxpayers), would have discussed this, and other help we were looking for, possibly within earshot of people like yourself. I hope you weren't too traumatised.

At least you could be with you parents, I couldn't. My father fought for 2 years with bone cancer. It's though but I'm sure that this thread doesn't target genuine issues like this.
Although everyone losses someone at some point, that doesn't necessarily mean we should all be entitled to free everything, that's why we need to be financial responsible and have savings, for situations like this.

Thank you OP for this post, feeling the same. Was waiting for a while to read this.

I heard she had 15 children and they just gave her one house per child. Much handier and avoids overcrowding etc.

I didn't bother my barney reading the thread ("Man Foams At Mouth Because Someone Has Tuppence To His Tuppence-'A'penny"), but are you in some way disbarred from availing of the same grants?

My neighbour gets that for her pug, and I know for a fact it's not diabetic! She uses the free money to buy drink and feeds the dog Mc Donalds! What about all the normal, working dogs that pay tax all their lives with diabetes? Where's their free money ?

bloody mongrels, churning out one litter of pups after another and living in their free kennels...the hard working dogs of this country have had enough!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭Sardonicat

Where are these puppies fathers, that's what I want to know? And I can guarantee you that where there's more than one litter to a bitch they'll all have different fathers.

    Sorry OP here.

But 7 or 8 meeting up in a pub and talking about how they can exploit the government just wrecked my head.

    I'm still annoyed about it.

Do you happen to know if any of these people are currently in full time employment? Council housing is not allocated to those solely in receipt of social welfare payments. Many working people who earn low salaries also qualify.

And no never have worked or never will

From reading through this it probably suits a lot of people just to live in denial about scroungers. Making flippant remarks beats thinking about the reality.

The reality is that grants to do up homes are given to home owners, not people in local authority owned or funded properties. And there is no such thing as a "Homeless HAP scheme "
