EPH Ember - How does it control boiler

    We are about to change our old gas boiler and the plumber is suggesting to add in EPH Ember controls to control upstairs downstairs and the water.

    It looks like the Ember controls motorised valves on the pipes.

    What I can't get my head around is if the room hit's the right temperature and the valve is closed, how does the boiler know to turn off?

    If the boiler doesn't turn off, what's the point. It'll still burn.

    Motorised valves have an auxiliary switch (grey and orange wires) sometimes called a micro-switch.

    This switch has a permanent live supply, and is only pushed to the on position once the motorised valve is fully open, and this calls to the boiler for heat (on the boiler switched live).

    Thanks for your response.

    So the valve can call the boiler for heat. Our valves will all be beside the new boiler (a Glow Worm).

    This is the valve https://www.ephcontrols.com/section/2-port-valve-female-bsp/

    So can this one call the boiler?

    Sequence to fire the boiler is;

    Timeclock, Thermostat (room or cylinder), Motorised Valve, Boiler

    If any one of the above is broken AKA, timing period runs out or thermostat gets up to temperature, the power is killed to your motorised valve which will in turn kill the signal between your motorised valve and your boiler.

    Your timeclock will have master control over the whole system.

    If the timeclock is off and your thermostat is calling for heat, nothing will happen
