What are public sector software development jobs like?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience working as a software developer in the public sector? What's the work like and the pay? I know a lot of the work is outsourced to companies like Version 1, or Accenture. But is there any in-house work done?

Good question, a few years age these didn't exist. Now they are hiring but the salaries are so low I have yet to meet anyone that bothered applying.
